    Short Property Description

We live on a beautiful and remote property in far north Queensland. We also manage the property next door to us and adjoin Mowbray National Park, so if you like nature, lots of space, peace and quiet, then we might be the place for you. We are fully off grid (solar power, pump our own water and grow a lot of our own food). We manage the property purely for maximum biodiversity outcomes and use it for research, education and conservation. The property is not farmed. It is half rainforest and half dry land ecosystems and we have many walking tracks and swimming holes you are welcome to enjoy. We also have platypus in the creek for those keen to spot one of Australia’s coolest animals. Our work is usually 2hrs in the morning and two hours in the afternoon (4hrs daily) in exchange for three wholesome meals a day, accommodation and satellite wifi. We usually have a thriving organic vegetable and fruit garden that we produce much of our food from.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

Organic farming only. We use a mixture of permaculture concepts. No-dig garden beds, straw bale beds, organic nutrients cycled onsite, composting, mounding, mulching, increasing diversity, gardening as an ecosystem, promoting beneficial insects, companion planting, no waste concepts…

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We like to have wwoofers join us for one week each month so we can catch up on the jobs we’ve missed while we host university, high school groups and farmstays. We will teach you the skills, but hope you come with enthusiasm to learn. 🙂 We have travelled extensively and like to meet people from around the world.

    Getting to us:

We can pick up volunteers from Mareeba, Mt Molloy, Mossman or Port Douglas. If you are coming from Cairns you will need to catch the transnorth bus from Cairns Central Shopping centre to Mareeba (Atherton or Inland Cooktown Routes). https://www.transnorthbus.com.au/bus-services/cairns-atherton or on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday catch the 6.30am Cooktown (inland route) and get off at Mt Molloy as this is the closest town to our property.
