We are an intergenerational family in the early stages of establishing a permaculture property growing a collection of produce for community farmers markets.
The 1.7 hectares was previously a brickworks and so is mainly clay and landfill but it has been regenerated with local endemic species and the gradual weed removal has been by hand rather than chemical.
Plans include the establishment of a yabbie/fish pond, more raised beds, a mushroom shed and establishment of production routines.
I became a WWOOF Host to share knowledge and skills with similarly minded people happy to have dirty hands and the wind in their hair with the time and inclination to appreciate all elements of the natural world.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We compost, mulch and weed, using no chemicals and encouraging natural processes wherever possible. Establishment of a larger composting system would be another priority.
