Short Property Description
John and I along with our daughter Jill and her partner Gabe live on a 90 acre bush property not far from Bairnsdale in East Gippsland. Our “farm” is an enclosed vegy garden and small orchard with some poultry and guinea pigs.
The food we produce is for our own consumption. We have been enjoying a sustainable lifestyle for many years – off grid – and there are many ways in which we strive to minimise our ecological footprint.
Covenanted with Trust for Nature, we are currently in a state of recovery after Black Summer bushfire flames affected the whole property at the very end of 2019. We hope to share a bit of our world as well as the wonders of the bush as it responds to fire and drought-breaking rains.
Right now the tasks which are challenging our energy levels include removing weeds from 80 acres of native vegetation, some veggie gardening jobs, and possibly a bit of rebuilding our orchard infrastructure.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
Totally brimming with muscles, energy and enthusiasm for 40 years we have always been determined to do everything on our property ourselves- the slow and hard way. Low financial inputs but a high commitment of time and effort have resulted in a very satisfying lifestyle.
The lure of cultural exchange has always been intriguing with the WWOOFer brand and now that our circumstances are a little different after the bush fires, we believe that we can both offer something of interest to participants as well as gain a much needed boost to keep us on top of the workload.
