‘Huntly’ is an organic cattle property in the beautiful Arcadia Valley in Central Qld. We run 2000 head of cattle that graze on natural pastures & are rotated regularly.
A thriving vegetable garden & a cool mud house keeps one sustained, inspired & vitalised. One must be frog friendly.
Biodynamic agriculture is practiced. Volunteering includes mustering, yardwork, gardening and property maintenance.
Accommodation for 2-4 in our home. Children b.a. Mixed diet. Min stay 2 weeks.
I have had so much fun travelling the world, working in other countries and learning about other cultures. Living in a very beautiful part of the world, I love to share it’s beauty, our unique way of life and experiences with other travellers. Having wwoofers to stay is as good as travelling the world without leaving home!
We have a huge garden and are slowly growing a food forest so I really appreciate the help that woofers bring to the garden. I also love to give them the opportunity to feed me with their own cultural cuisine and have always had a bit of fun with this. I learn as much from the wwoofers has they do from me, it is a wonderful cross fertilisation of cultures.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Huntly is a certified organic commercial beef property with an organic food garden. Our aim is to develop a healthy sustainable ecosystem. I spray with Biodynamic preps and use lots of BD compost and cow pat pits.
Our present project is to become completely self sufficient growing a food forest.
