Dharmananda Community
Dharmananda is a vibrant, successful intentional community, established in 1974. 260 acres bordering Terania Creek ; close to Nightcap NP. 60 acres cleared for mixed organic vegetable, fruit &; vegetable, 20 Jersey cows from which we produce our cheese – feta, pannir, hard cheese in winter, yoghurt and butter..
Eighteen adults, 3 children make up the community and welcome WWOOFers to share our organic food, beautiful land, ongoing work in food production, rainforest regeneration, building, pasture maintenance and our efforts towards self reliance.
Communal buildings include a community house with kitchen, laundry and bathroom, separate WWOOFer accommodation next to the communal house, all toilets on the farm are composting, a large workshop for woodworking and other crafts. Large swimming hole, rainforest walks, the monthly Channon market nearby. Please give as much notice as possible and confirm booking 1 week in advance.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
Exchange of skills and knowledge about organic farming and community living, meeting new people and sharing community living and expanding our view of the world and other people, learning from other people’s experience in different countries and learning new recipes for our communal meals, benefitting from the wonderful help that they give us so generously and making long term friends. We deeply value our connections with so many people over the decades and could not run the farm with out their help.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Non certified organic, composting, cover cropping and rotation of garden beds, mulching with grass from paddock, composted cow manure, Gundaroo tilling, hand weeding, compost toilet material on fruit trees, tractor used to slash cover crops, rip soil and prepare beds.
