This was my first WWOOF on a commercial farm. Peter and Jenny are what I'd would consider to be as the back bone of Australia. Down to earth, hard working Aussies, who welcomed me with open arms into their lives and their home. I only had the pleasure of getting to know Peter and Jenny for a few days before they took off, entrusting me to help keep the farm ticking over, along side Sarah the farms only employee and Zac a long term backpacker. Sarah was such a pleasure to work with and being of a similar age the conversation was never dry . Once I got myself set up, the caravan I was put in was warm and cosy. I had Ruby (one of the dogs) always at my side and slept at the caravan so I knew I was safe ;p The kind of work I was doing- Helping Sarah in the Rice sorting and packaging store room- Everything from getting the rice sorted, weighed, packaged, labeled, dated, and boxed up for the post and cleaning out the store rooms. On the Farm it's self, I fed all the cats, dogs, chickens. Went egg hunting everyday looking for where the free roaming chooks laid their eggs. Pottered around the main house helping with meals and clean up. Jenny cooked some very lovely meals 🙂 Thank you Perter, Jenny and Sarah for a rewarding experience. I shall stop by again if im in the area.
