Michelle and Aaron
We are Michelle and Aaron, a married couple from Adelaide, 15 minutes from the city. Our 2.4-hectare property in Belair sits in the Hills Face Zone with stunning sea views. The land is currently untouched bushland (formerly a quarry, then government-owned) and we’re starting fresh.
Our vision is to create an off-grid permaculture paradise with an Earthship eco-home, food forest, and organic gardens. Right now, the work is about establishing the basics—weed removal, safe access tracks, and building a composting toilet—before moving into building the Earthship home, food production and regeneration.
At this stage there are no amenities on site—we aren’t living there yet—so it suits self-sufficient WWOOFers with a caravan/camper. We only ask for a few hours’ help each week in exchange for a peaceful base surrounded by nature.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We decided to become WWOOF hosts because we know how unique this property is and how much potential it holds for regeneration and sustainable living. With both of us working full-time, we also recognise that we can’t do it all on our own! By opening up our project to WWOOFers, we hope to create a space where people can share in the journey of transforming untouched land into a thriving, regenerative permaculture haven.
We have both travelled widely, lived and worked overseas, and know firsthand how rewarding it is to exchange skills, ideas, and stories across cultures. Becoming WWOOF hosts is our way of extending that spirit of exchange here in Adelaide.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We are at the very beginning of our journey on this property, so there is no active farming yet. However, Aaron has been self-learning and practicing permaculture for over 5 years in our suburban homes, and is an active member of both Permaculture SA and the Bee Society of South Australia.
Our approach is guided by permaculture principles — working with natural systems, valuing diversity, and regenerating the land. We don’t plan to grow commercial quantities, but instead focus on creating a self-sufficient, resilient food system that nourishes us and shares abundance with our community.
Our long-term vision includes:

🌳 Establishing a food forest with layers of fruit trees, shrubs, herbs, and groundcovers.

🥕 Creating an organic veggie garden for seasonal produce.

🌺 Building pollinator-friendly plantings to support bees and native species.

🌿 Integrating waste recycling, composting, and water management systems.

🍍 Constructing an Earthship greenhouse to grow year-round tropical fruits and fresh food in a closed-loop system.
WWOOFers joining us will be part of the journey right from the start — helping us transform raw bushland into a thriving, sustainable ecosystem.
