Meraki at Mapleton
Situated on the top of the Sunshine Coast hinterland an hour north of Brisbane, we have named our property Meraki – a Greek word meaning to do something with soul, creativity and love. Our home is a non-commercial former dairy farm that we are rehabilitating into a sub-tropical oasis. We strive to incorporate organic and sustainable practices where possible for our large gardens and modest collection of animals, orchards and vegetable beds. The property contains a few self-contained houses, including a new fully furnished and private tiny home that we think would be just perfect for one or two WWOOF’s as they work with us for around 4 hours most mornings. We are aged in our 50’s and are very active, and whilst you can find us in the garden most days we also work from home running a small environmental consultancy business.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We joined WWOOF as we both have a background with living and working overseas when we were younger. Whilst we would appreciate the help in the garden, we also look forward to sharing our knowledge and helping create and nurture those memorable experiences that help a person grow into a responsible global citizen.

Organic/Biological methods we use

Regenerative farming, lots of weeding and maintaining new trees and gardens.
