Dan and Lou
25 acre hobby farm with small orchard of 30 fruit trees, also a section of rainforest and forestry trees with plans for expansion into herb and vegetable growing in the future. We have just finished building our dream home on the land so we are still busy landscaping around the new house.
There are ocean and forest views. Accommodation is in a comfortable cabin with queen bed and 2 single beds. It has a rainwater tank and camp cooker, electricity and is seperate to our house. There is a lovely bathroom seperate to the cabin with a bath, compost toilet and gorgeous view into the forest.
I would be very appreciative of any assistance with weeding, planting, mulching, irrigation, fencing, mowing, chainsawing, whipper snippering but can design the work around what you are comfortable doing. My parter Dan is a structural landscaper and stone mason so you could lend a hand with that depending what he’s doing.
I have a Kenyan top bar beehive and am learning natural beekeeping as I go. I’ve been busy planting a variety of flowering plants, particularly those that are winter flowering to help nourish the bees.
I am a trained Herbalist / Naturopath and currently work as a mental health support worker. I have 2 teenage kids Harry and Lana and 1 border collie dog Lunah.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
I became a WWOOF host to meet with like-minded people, share ideas, share working together. I experienced wwoofing in my younger days in Europe and still have such fond memories of this time. We also struggle to keep on top of the jobs around the place and love it when I have an extra set of hands.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Permaculture principles are applied with design and planting. We use composting, mulching, and have a worm farm at the cabin as well as a large worm farm septic system for our house. We are completely off-grid with a fancy solar system for electricity and numerous rain water tanks. We collect seaweed from the beach and cow manure from the main farm and coffee grounds from town cafes to mix into our compost. We do have a Kenyan beehive however we are waiting for a new swarm to take up residence as our previous colony was wiped out. I have planted numerous flowering plants for the bees.
We also run a small campsite on the property so there are jobs to be done there with watering plants, checking the compost toilet and supplying firewood to campers.
