I spent a week with Helena and she was an absolutely fantastic host! Her house and garden are beautiful with a wide variety of plants. I helped to improve an area of the garden by creating a new path, as well as adding some rocks to create a border edge. I had time to visit the Mona, local wildlife sanctuary and explore Hobart. She is a fantastic cook and I really enjoyed cooking with her too. Thank you again Helena, it really made my trip to tassie special.

I spent 3 weeks with Helena and it has been amazing. I contacted her because i wanted to learn something about beekeeping and she sheared her knowledge with me. We also did some burnings of the vegetation, that it has been really interesting and some general maintenance of the garden. I really wanna thank Helena for all the things that i learned and is cool also the fact that she is keeping some native forest in a part of the garden so you can spot many birds around and it’s good for the environment as well. P.S: she cooks really good!

Wwoofing with Helena was such a wonderful experience. It was exciting to learn about the bees and work with them for the first time in my life. She has real passion, and she did a great job educating me on the topic. She has such a beautiful garden, it was a pleasure to work in it. Outside of the work, which I had a lot of fun doing, I enjoyed the conversations we had. She made sure I had a fun time and when she found out I was into running, made sure I knew where to go for some good runs and introduced me to a local running group. Thanks to your son too for going running with me! The food was plentiful and delicious and the room was so nice. I slept wonderfully there. Helena made me feel right at home. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would encourage anybody who is thinking about staying and wwoofing with Helena to do it. Thanks so much to you and your wonderful family for my time at your place. It made my trip!

I just finished my Wwoofing journey from Australia two weeks ago. Helena, the gracious hostess of paradise, welcomed me with open arms and a genuine enthusiasm for her beautiful garden. Her passion for organic gardening was palpable, and I was eager to immerse myself in the daily rhythms of life on her farm. Helena's Garden proved to be a sanctuary for both the soul and the senses during my recent WWOOFing adventure. From the moment I stepped foot onto the property, I was enveloped by an atmosphere of warmth, tranquility, and eco-conscious living. Evenings were spent gathered around the dinning table, sharing delicious meals from Helena's cook. These deep connections and friendships that I will treasure long after my departure.

We had our first wwoofing at Helenas place and it was fantastic! It was such a fun for us to work with and for her and to spend time on diner together. As we went to Helena almost in winter, we didn't do much for the bees but we did some burning in her garden to clear the ways and the grass, pruning, mulched and took care of her outdoor projets. We had more than enough free time and Helena kindly took us to an animal park, the Salamanca market etc. We are thankful for the opportunity to get to know Helena and her lovely dog Sissy, as well as her welcoming family. Since day one we felt welcome and almost at home. We highly recommend to stay at Helenas place! 😊 We will never forget this experience. Thank you very much Helena, it was incredible and we are very happy to know you.

This was my first wwoofing-experience and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Helena’s place is beautiful and calming. She was a wonderful host, very considerate, and made me feel very welcome. I had so many questions and she was always kind enough to answer them all. Helena is an a great cook and always shared her delicious dinners with me as we had great conversations. The work day started around 9am and was well structured with clear tasks which consisted mainly in preparing the property for winter weeding, pruning, planting and more! Her Bees were amazing to be around and having her share her knowledge with me about them was awesome. I would love to be able to come here again and would definitely recommend my fellow Wwoofer’s to stay here 🙂

Helena welcomed me with a big hug and straight away we were in a great conversation, one of many over the week I stayed with her. She is a very welcoming and generous person. She is very passionate about her bees and went to great lengths to explain the process of beekeeping while I helped her on her weekly check of her hives. I now have a much better understanding of why honey sold by beekeepers at farmers markets costs a bit more, there is so much involved in caring for them. I spent a lot of time in her vegetable garden trying to keep the weeds at bay with the luxury of being able to pick plums and tomatoes to eat while I was working, not to mention the local organic blueberries picked from a farm close by. No more supermarket blueberries for me! It was so restorative sitting on the balcony morning and evening and just taking in the stunning views of the Derwent River. Thank you Helena for your kindness.

I absolutely loved my week at Helena’s. She is such a kind, generous person and made me feel welcome straight away. Her house has stunning views over Hobart and the garden was a very peaceful place to work. Helena is flexible with working times so I was able to visit MONA, Salamanca Markets and Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. In the evenings we would share the cooking, have great chats and watch films. I would highly recommend volunteering here and hope I will be back some day!

I stayed at Helena's home for just over two weeks and had an amazing time while I was there. She was incredibly welcoming, making me feel at home right away. During the day I worked digging, weeding, moving rocks, and planting - her dog being great company while I worked. Some evenings we would cook dinners together, and she was able to teach me a lot about making wonderful meals! She was flexible with when I worked, and I was able to go to Bruny Island for the weekend with a friend. She has a big project ahead of her in her garden and is looking for the extra help - even inviting my friend to come back with me and help for the second week. I will miss my time here and hope to see pictures along the way!
