Kookaburra Community
Kookaburra Community is an establishing community on a lovely 4 acre bush block on Jaara Country, near Daylesford. Currently one family resides at the community, Mum (40), Son (5) and Jack Russell dog.
The intention is to have  other people join the community and WWOOFers visit.
The veggie gardens are establishing, with our humanure and our enthusiasm to grow as much food as possible during our short growing season.
When we’re not growing food, we are repairing the surrounding bush by removing invasive weeds.
Culture and connection is the most important part of this community, firstly acknowledging First Nations culture, traditional to the lands where we live.
We regularly cook on the fire and share songs and dance in honour of the ancestors of the land and our own.
This is truly a wonderful place to learn about Aboriginal culture and history, whilst living comfortably in the dwellings surrounded by bush.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

I am passionate about sharing my Aboriginal culture and knowledge with people who are interested. I’m also a very keen gardener wanting the community garden to thrive, as I consider this our most valuable asset in life. Living in close relation with the land and each other is what I practise everyday and I’d like to share this with others.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We use permaculture principles, including no chemicals and our own compost and humanure.
