Short Property Description
Organic permaculture based farm
Full Property Description
We incorporate all the non-traditional farming and permaculture techniques practiced by Bill Mollison & Geoff Lawton & Singing Frogs Farm, USA & Les Jardins de la Grelinette, Canada.
We’re fully off-grid and we actively farm 1 square acre which has 19 bed rows each at 1 x 50m. We also have 4 swales cut across the land on which we have dozens of fruit trees. Our property is an amazing place but we always need help with planting, harvesting and general upkeep of the garden area. You’ll be able to learn permaculture and organic growing methods. We participate in the Apple Tree Creek markets once a month which are just down the road from our farm.
The weather here is pretty amazing too. We’re about 5k from Childers and 45k to Bundaberg. Its about a 20 minute drive to Woodgate beach and 45 to Bargara beach. Our back roads make for amazing bike riding as well.
We have a beautiful spring fed dam on which we can paddle around the boat or even fish. It has fish, yabbies and eels.
We also have 10 amazing chickens from whom we get delicious eggs daily and 4 guinea fowl that run around keeping the spiders in check!
Organic/Biological methods we use
We use a bio-intensive planting technique where we plant 3-4 different plant varieties in one bed row. We harvest at soil level, leaving the root’s microbiome intact and promoting the health of the soil. We do occasionally broad fork the rows, and use a tilther, but other than that we’re no-till.
