Rick and Tric
We live on a 2 ¼ acre property. This is a private house and garden with fruit trees, vegetable gardens, landscaped ornamental borders and a patch of old growth eucalypts, plus an antique furniture restoration workshop in the process of being set up. We are both semi-retired and moved here from the UK in 2023. The gardens here have been a little neglected for several years but have great potential. We have both worked in a wide variety of jobs, mostly self-employed. We have both worked as vegetarian cooks and eat well, mostly organic food. Rick has worked for 20 years as a sports coach at a high level and for 35 years in the antiques trade as a restorer and conserver and has been involved with wwoof since 1975. Tric has a degree in psychology and worked in the Australian health service. She also a post grad degree in botanical conservation and worked for botanical gardens. Tric has run a small certified organic stock farm and worked extensively in organic horticulture. Particularly in research of medicinal herb crops. She has also been involved with the “Deep Ecology” movement since its beginnings. Our wwoofers tend to find us interesting and relaxed and reasonably well behaved.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We have grown organically since the 1970’s and had many fruitful and nourishing visits from wwoofers. We find the exchange stimulating and interesting. We would like to continue with this very worthwhile exchange and look forward to your visits.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Over the last 50 years we have tried and tested a range of organic methods. Some Biodynamic, some permaculture, but we have always ended up adapting and changing these to suit what we find and learn about the environment we find ourselves in. Always, no chemical sprays, no GMOs. We have taken on, worked on, and changed more gardens than we care to remember, some from scratch and some well developed like this one. A lot of work on vegie gardens, orchards, ornamentals and tree planting and felling. A lot of hard landscaping, shed building and house renovating.
We have recently moved hemispheres so we find ourselves in completely different growing conditions, climate, and soil types, flora and fauna. So, the permaculture concept of deep observing is very much with us at present. A tremendous adventure and a steep learning curve.
Over the years we have even learned a lot from our wwoofers.
