Short Property Description
New environmentally friendly home on 1 acre of land surrounded by forests in beautiful Marysville, abundance of birds and many native animals live in surrounding bush.
Currently establishing an orchard and vegetable garden, with chickens and not so helpful goats. We hope to reintroduce Beehives very soon. Extremely peaceful location and yet walking distance to local café. Very safe village with a friendly local community. Numerous walking tracks are nearby, lots of areas suitable for trout fishing.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Presently we are composting everything possible, we capture rainwater for gardening although we are connected to water supply. I’ve just created a worm garden which will help grow vegetables. We avoid using sprays especially as we have beehives and prefer to dig out weeds and make liquid fertiliser from them.
Solar panels help reduce our electricity use. Aiming to become self sufficient once Orchard starts producing. Chickens are laying delicious eggs. Fortunate that nearby areas provide large amounts of Saffron Milk Caps.
Have dried and preserved various foods when excess occurs.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
Previously I have enjoyed hosting international students however after moving to Marysville this is no longer suitable due to distance to schools and I miss interacting with others from interstate or international.
I would like help in establishing my new orchard and creating more vegetable gardens and depending on the season harvesting honey, preserving foods or foraging for fungi.
I enjoy learning about other countries and customs so WWOOF seemed an ideal solution.
