About the property: Black snail is a 10 acre country property with stunning views set in the lush, cool temperate Otways ridge. My goal is to set it up as a permaculture property with complete with a food forest, animals (goats and chickens), tiny house, yoga and events space and revegetation too. Right now I am at the beginning ~ 1.5 years in ~ so the garden is only just starting to take shape.

About me: I’m an ex experience designer who dropped out of city life to chase my permaculture dream. After years of building gardens in my rental properties and having to move every year, I decided I had to take the plunge on my own place. Black Snail is that permaculture property where I can grow, build and experiment to my heart’s content. I also have the goal of connecting with community and building resilience. I chose Beech Forest as it has good soil, high rainfall and close to rainforest and ocean. I love it so far and want to share how special this place is!
Apart from gardening, I enjoy yoga, hiking, cycling, music festivals, bouldering, camping, reading and making things with my hands. I’m neurodivergent and aim for the stay to be welcoming and supportive of all my guests 🙂
I’m keen to practise my limited Japanese too if anyone speaks Japanese? 日本語を話しますか 😀

Why I became a WWOOF Host
I love to share my love of plants, animals and nature and contribute to the share, non-monetary economy. I’d love to meet people from all walks of life, from near and far, and build cross cultural connections.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Permaculture methods aiming to establish a food forest, right now I’m mostly in observation mode and early planting and mulching phase. Lot’s of cuttings and seedlings establishing too.
No sprays, a lot of manual weeding, mowing, mulching etc.
