    Short Property Description

Sustainable, self’s sufficient off grid living. 77 acres of arid mallee land. Solar panels installed and water is brought in. Beautiful native birds and animals around us. Building earthbag and mud brick dwellings. Living in caravans until buildings built. It’s a teaching and educational farm. Very remote and peaceful.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

We don’t use chemicals here anywhere. We compost nearly everything or it goes to the chooks  and ducks. We use IBCs as planter boxes and wicking beds. We also plant in the ground a certain way that works as we are either clay or limestone soil. We are building a glass hot house for the plants that need to stay a bit warmer. We build rocket mass heater or rocket water heaters to conserve energy and heat.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

Being a host was suggested by another host Joes Connected Gardens in Elizabeth Grove. We are affiliated with them as the arid rural farm. I would like my farm to be educational and for others to learn new skills of living off grid. Also to experience the beauty of this beautiful arid land. It comes across as very harsh but if your out here long enough the beauty shines through. Working the land with your hands and not relying on the system.
