My name is Cassandra, I'm 30 and have worked as an ABC journalist for the past five years. My first gig as journo was covering agriculture, which sparked an interest in organic farming. I'd like to take a break from office work and the world of journalism to learn more about organic farming and go on a bit of an adventure. Lots of friends have recommended Wwoofing over the years and I'd like to learn more about organic farming, localisation and community building.

I love the idea of staying with a family and having a more local experience all the while doing something productive. Traveling in a new country can often be tiring and it’s great to settle down for a week or so and get myself working. My sisters did WWOOF in Europe and had a fantastic experience and so greatly inspired me to try it out.

I have long been interested in sustainable and regenerative farming. This year I have commenced a wine science degree at CSU, and I am looking to compliment this education with lots of practical experience learning to make the wine that I like drinking best. I want to learn about the micro and macro ecosystems that form in and around the farm/vineyard, to observe the changes of the season and what they bring.

City/Town: Trinity Beach via Cairns

A wooden house on a cliff over the Coral Sea, 18 km north of Cairns. Trinity Beach is a peaceful, picturesque beach village with safe swimming year round. I am a writer and this is a vegetarian household with animals, close to nature and natural places. Work times are flexible and WWOOFers help in the garden and with whatever needs doing. I prefer one person at a time. No Smoking. I  am a advocate of animal rights as well as activists for animal.

It's time I started to learn how to grow things and live less from supermarkets. This has been on my mind for too long, and I think now, with what's happening with this crazy virus, it's time for me to embrace living in an alternative way.

Skills I Want to Learn: Permaculture/Biodynamics
I am currently traveling around Australia while waiting for the international borders to open up again; in the meantime I am keen to put my hands in the soil and get some practical experience to extend my knowledge of permaculture.

We live on a 52 acre (24 ha) rural property east of Canberra. We grow a large volume of vegetables and conduct equestrian training. We also have a few ostriches (left over from another enterprise), paddock and house dogs; honey bees; and rescued wild birds, mainly magpies. Our property is 4 km from the nearest public road; 13-15 minutes drive to the nearest small town where there are good facilities; and high by Australian standards (900 m above sea level). Our electricity comes from solar panels; our water from the sky; and heating from firewood from the property. We currently have landscape and small building projects in progress and access to commercial organic farming, pasture sustainability advice, and permaculture expertise. As well as work on the property, my wife and I run our own businesses from home. We are also both writers and involved in numerous community and family activities. We look forward to meeting enthusiastic young people and sharing new skills and knowledge with them.

I would like to experience something new and challenging. I am interested in learning new skills and also learning about organic farming methods. I would like to meet new people and new cultures. I like the added security of an organisation that is the go between as I would be uncertain about how to access farms on my own.

Skills I Want to Learn:
A couple friends from college did WWOOF and raved about their experiences. I've always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity until now. I'm excited to learn some new job skills, build some relationships and see the world.

Skills I Want to Learn:
Yuka : - Improving our daughters’ English level (and mine too…). Especially one of them dreams to study fashion in London. - Sharing with my family a countryside life and the pleasure to work together - Hoping that our twin girls understand the importance to help voluntarily others and to be cooperative in the community and how producers work hard to give us crops. - For all of us 4, finding some new values different from what we have or know, something that we forgot in our urban life. Guillaume : For me life is about experiences and meet a lot of different people from all other the world and also discover the world. The more you learn about other people's lives the more you learn about human's heart. And as a writer and a humanist that's really important for me. And also I live in a big city but I am pretty wild so I need to refresh myself from time to time by being close to the nature.
