Thank you for your interest in volunteering. We appreciate help, enjoy young people and having an excuse to visit the beautiful and interesting places Adelaide, the hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia have to offer with them. Due to the corona virus all our booked overseas helpers had to cancel their flight to Australia. The first time in Years we might at times be without helpers at all. Some local Australian helpers, unable to go overseas are now filling the gap which is very nice as we used to have overseas helpers only before. Please read through all the text below and only apply if you think this is for you. We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angas River running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable gardens with free roaming bantams, big layer hens, a Muscovy duck, flower beds, lawns as well as two goats on paddocks and a cute house cat. 1 of our 4 kids, Katharina, is living next door with her partner. Bernward is semi retired but still runs a sustainable architecture and building consultancy business part time from offices attached to the home. Barbara works at the local hospital. We have been accommodating helpers since 2011  through various help exchange sites. If you want a break from travelling in a non judgmental  friendly  family environment and you are open and self-motivated, this is the place for you. This is not an action or party place but rather a place to relax and get creative with great light, & scenery for painting and photography, write and get back to nature. A big woodworking workshop invites creativity. I enjoy teaching woodworking skills to our helpers with the option to learn how to fit out campervans and tiny houses. A couple of times a week we heat up our Sauna and helpers are welcome to join. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation  for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. All share in home cooked evening meal. Mixed diet. No smokers please. Longer stays (min 3 weeks) preferred after initial few days. Please contact us via email only.

I can’t wait to learn new skills, meet new people and see new places. If all goes well maybe in the future I can host WWOOFers.

Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
We live 45 km from Perth, 20mn walking distance from the Chidlow Post Office, the bus stop, forests & lake Leschenaultia. In the last 20 + years, we have  developed our hobby farm: built a solar-passive straw-bale home, established an extensive garden  as well as grown three children, home-schooled with the help of WWOOFers!!! They are now young adults, two of which still live at home. With our daughters, we grow vegetables, flowers, herbs & fruit trees. We have a horse, 3 cows, 5 goats, 2 sheep, chickens, ducks, 4 bee hives & lots of visiting birds. Work includes general hobby-farming, gardening, and maintenance jobs, with occasionally some more skillful work such as rock wall building or else, checking bees/ extracting honey etc... Accommodation is in annex for 1 – 2 non-smoking WWOOFers. We cook only vegetarian meals, mostly organic, shared with the family, although we can accommodate vegan and gluten free diets. We also speak French at home,  we love playing traditional folk music, classical or old 60's songs, singing, bush-walking, we're also interested in art & craft, travel, health, spirituality and philosophy, fun, and good food. most hot days, we'll end at the lake for a cool down swim!

I've just fledged my youngest child and I'm up for new adventures. WWOOF seems like a safe and fun way to be a solo traveler. As I age, I am becoming more interested in sustainability in all it's guises - food, housing, internal wellbeing. I know very little about gardening and permaculture, but I'd like to learn more. During this year of pandemic I've been delighted to grow veggies in my urban back garden. It's been a lovely creative outlet to make soup from my own ingredients. What do I hope to achieve by WWOOFing? Such an interesting question. I don't know and I'm leaning in to the discomfort of not knowing. At the very least, connection to new folk and new ideas with the opportunity to exchange my skills and ideas.

City/Town: Mullumbimby
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Tent
Welcome to my portal. I have one acre of garden; permaculture, rainforest, quarry and wild raspberries, and a hand-built wooden house. I need help with maintenance of land and building. Volunteering includes planting, weeding, composting, landscaping and also painting and oiling of structures. There is scope for creative inventions and carpentry. Located 20 mins walk to the laid-back picturesque old-world town of Mullumbimby which is now becoming gentrified. Buskers play in the main street and there are great healthfood shops, a farmers market and community gardens. The beach is 20 mins drive: Brunswick Heads or Byron Bay. I am a mature woman and welcome mature WWOOFers, as well as younger ones if they have some experience in  above tasks. Accommodation in tent or in house. All diets catered for. No smoking indoors. Prefer Wifi off by 10pm (in support of wildlife as well as my peace of mind).

I joined WWOOF because I'm wanting to learn more about organic farming - particularly permaculture, as well as contribute to a different community in Australia other than my hometown of Canberra. I’m resolved to centre my life around producing food; to become community-sufficient. I can see myself living on a small block of land, cultivating a food forest to produce food for my community members in exchange for other items or services, or for free for people who are in need. Organic farming/permaculture overlaps with many of my great passions: being outside, producing healthy food and healing the environment. I’ve grown up around people with productive food spaces in their suburban backyards, and since a young age, I have cultivated the backyard of my family home. But I know I still have much to learn. Coupled with this is my hankering to move out of the city. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and thankfully the opportunity has recently emerged. I would be extremely grateful for a space to contribute to and learn from. I think I would find it extremely replenishing and inspiring.

Both of us feel a strong connection to nature and are yearning for a small break from City life. We are avid supporters of self sustainability and aspire to go off grid once we're done with the bustle of town. Claudi (an organic enthusiast) WWOOFed for four months in France in '19 and has been keening to go back.
