Hello, we are Katrina and Finn and we live at Beachwood. It is a 2 acre patch of land that is part of the Eco-Village in the beautiful Currumbin Valley. Situated in the hinterlands of the Gold Coast, Queensland, we are just ten minutes from the BEACH and half an hour from all a city can offer. The bus pictured is the woofers accom! So far, people love it! Katrina is an architect/builder/ and Finn is a sculptor/builder/musician we have a lot to share with a willing worker and we always try to have fun while we create! We speak French, German and welcome all cultures... Here on Beachwood we grow as much of our own food as possible. We are building our own unique timber framed  house, as well as maintaining the land and undertaking a number of other interesting projects. We are looking for WWoofers that have building skills to help us finish our unique hand-made timber house and general gardening skills.

Our 11.5 hectare property, Mt Poverty (poor by name but rich in nature!) is 60km or 1hour, southwest of Cooktown in Far North Queensland. With an altitude of 600 metre above sea level our temperature is always several degrees cooler then the coast. Our property borders on the beautiful Wet Tropics Rainforest and dry open forests so we enjoy the best of both worlds with and abundance of wildlife, cool clean mountains streams and waterfalls ( and no crocodiles!). We have numerous fruit trees, flower and vegetable gardens with our main aim of self sufficiency, eco tourism and organic farming. We have no mobile phone coverage but do have a landline and internet, our power comes from solar and generator.

Our place at Blackheath in the Blue Mountains of NSW was burnt in a bush fire on 22nd December 2019. We urgently need help with land clearing of burnt areas so that we can restore our fences as well as taking the opportunity to remove weeds in the burnt areas where they have reappeared and planting out up to 1,000 canopy tree seedlings to restore the native habitat. We are on 3.2 Ha of which 80% has been burnt. Luckily the orchard, greenhouse and organic vegie garden was saved, so we need help with preparing the spring garden and winter harvest, in addition to the restoration work. https://wwoof.com.au/2nd-3rd-year-visa-news-update-from-the-wwoof-office/   We are dedicated permaculture followers and live according to sustainability principles. We have recently taken over a dilapidated property surrounded by bush, although the house is in good condition. We have cleared the orchard and Vegie area and have Planted a Permaculture garden. However there is still a lot to be done. Under our guidance, weeds and undergrowth need to be cleared, compost, wood bins managed and our greenhouse attended to, as well as continuing to plant out the herb and vegetable garden. Other tasks include clearing the bushland of weeds, preparing new garden beds and building a pergola for kiwi fruit vines. We need people who are strong, with some landscape gardening experience. Accom for 1, 2 or 3 close friends in a separate wing of our home with its own kitchen and bathroom and separate entry - would suit a couple or single person. Shared meals each evening. or Food provided to prepare your own breakfast and lunch. Mixed diet. Vegetarians catered for. No children. No smoking on property. Initial stay 6-10 days, longer stays negotiable. Prefer min 2 week stays.

3hrs from Melbourne Airport I am a retired secondary school teacher and run a small BnB business and, having moved onsite recently, I am establishing the garden and maintaining the property. I keep bees, and wish soon to increase the number of hives I have. I have hosted many Couchsurfers in my own flat, but will provide more private accommodation with the help of WWOOFers ASAP. The property is within a short distance of the Halls Gap village, and is set adjacent to the very popular Grampians National Park, famous for its mountains, wildlife and hiking and climbing. There is usually abundant opportunity for additional work in local restaurants, etc., if desired.

We have raised veggie beds, fruit trees, chooks, and dogs. All of this takes a bit of looking after and we appreciate any help we can get. Work is varied depending on the season, but mostly general garden maintenance. After work, you can relax in the pool or hammock, surf the free Wi-Fi, or explore the many attractions in the area. Accommodation for 2 (1 queen size bed) in a self-contained caravan with a private outdoor area. Meat & veg meals are provided - you won't starve here. This is a non-smoking property. Our small plot intensive farm called Mad Rams Potager Gardens is at its infancy stage of development as we have decided to make a lifestyle change and move to Strahan Tasmania. We are committed to a number of farming methodologies which include permaculture/ no dig principles and importantly Aboriginal traditional agricultural practices which we believe make our farm somewhat unique..We are wanting to create an ecologically supportive sustainable farm which has the ability to adapt to changing climatic conditions while also bringing to the local community both traditional foods and introduced foods which complement each other rather than compete. We also have a beautiful historically rich spacious home (a 1906 boat harbour masters home 246sm of home 86sm verandah and 46sm of powered shed) which we are happy to share with volunteer wwoofers...we also welcome volunteers to gain an understanding of Aboriginal culture and the Australian culture which makes this beautiful country unique...our farm has some challenges but we have a vision which we believe every volunteer will be able to contribute to and leave an indenable footprint...we hope to foster great relationships shared knowledge and some wisdom in our exchange...Mad Rams Potager Gardens will be one of the first market gardens in our area which is exciting and challenging, yet definetly rewarding. We have amazing birdlife and animals... we are surrounded by one of the most intact wet temperate forests in the world and a beautiful bay. We are also located in the gorgeous night skies of the araura australis lights....We chose this beautiful place because if it's dependable rainfall community and opportunity to give back to the land and eco system in keeping with Aboriginal custodial tradition..We welcome you to consider joining us for part of our journey and be part of Mad Rams Potager Gardens establishment... We will also open our home for you to experience traditional and home cooked meals. We are also happy to share some of our rich culture
