We live at the Co-ordination Co-op which is one of the largest communities in Australia, established after the Aquarius Festival in 1973. Our Community is set in an enchanted valley - 2000 acres backing on to the Nightcap NP - where around 200 residents live, committed to environmental preservation. We're surrounded by subtropical rainforest with bubbling creeks, great swimming holes, excellent bushwalks & abundant wildlife. Friendly easy-going Hosts - happy to share our knowledge & vast experience of alternative lifestyle. We would like help with our gardens & orchards, weed control, building maintenance seed & bulb collection & anything else that's happening at the time. Accommodation for 1-3 in our home. Vegetarian meals only.  No smoking inside. No cats or dogs. Initial stay 3-5 days. Longer stays definitely possible. Have a great creek for swimming in the warmer months. Sustainable living with a view to living in harmony with nature. Off the grid power system and solar hot water, lowering our impact on our beautiful planet. Wildlife sanctuary with a myriad of different birds and animals. Feel at home!

We have a passion for travel and meeting people, and decided that we wanted to challenge ourselves in a way to push ourselves out of our comfort zones. When we came across the opportunities that WWOOF provided, it was a perfect fit! We loved the idea of slow travel while gaining insight into the life of the farming families across Australia at the same time. We are passionate about the environment and sustainable living and are eager to learn more about this lifestyle through the eyes of the people that work to put food on our tables. By joining WWOOF we hope to meet a diverse range of new people and become a part of their lifestyle while offering a helping hand wherever we can. Through our work and travel, we aim to learn a range of practical skills that we can apply to our everyday lives and into the future all while forming lasting relationships.

I joined WWOOF to explore and learn - I hope to achieve... exploration and learning! I am exited to meet new people, help with projects, exchange knowledge and interests and drink lots of tea! When I was growing up, our family was a WWOOF host for a number of years - which I believe has influenced my desire to be part of the WWOOF community.

City/Town: Brunkerville
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
We are on 20 acres of pasture and a beautiful rainforest gully which we are regenerating. We have horses, a miniature pony, chickens and a dog. We are 3 adults in the family. We have inherited permaculture features, plants and trees and want to do more. We are undertaking regenerative farming to improve the pasture and capture water. We are 15 minutes from the Sydney-Newcastle railway and back onto a native conservation area with many delightful bushwalks. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife. We have a spare, very comfortable double room in an annexe to a simple country house.

I hope that WWOOF will connect me with people living the lifestyle I seek to live. I want to understand how people and community's can thrive whilst supporting the natural systems that they rely on. I'm seeking first hand experience with like minded people who have already commenced their journey of sustainability. I believe that living and working with such people will provide a great insight into what to expect and how to better create environmental balance. Human connection is another reason why I have chosen to WWOOF. I love meeting people, sharing stories, experiences and knowledge. I hope to find out more about the people living this lifestyle and the journeys that have taken them to running these projects. Lastly, I hope to experience a variety of environments and practices. I know I want to create a life of balance with our natural systems, however the where and how remains a mystery. I hope that WWOOFing will provide me with the chance to experience a wide range of methods and regions.

Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Tent, BYO Accommodation
For 35 years now, on 940 acres of diverse plateau-edge forest with spectacular gorge pools and waterfalls, we two zoologists have created an off-grid, solar, gravity, wood and people powered - experiment in sustainable food gardening and land, fire and wildlife management. We have lots of food gardening and bushfire recovery related activities happening at the moment and are also helping out on other exciting community projects such as the Oxygen Farm (walking track), the Elands Company an old sawmill now used for community events and landscape rehabilitation, and organic lunches for our post fire "recombobulation" project at the local community health centre. Work hours are flexible, tasks varied, fruit, vegies, nuts etc fresh from the large garden/orchard/swales and diet mixed. Accommodation at the house is in 2 rooms, one with 3 single beds and one with a Queen bed but you can also choose to camp close by if you have that gear. Can pick you up from public transport at Wingham/Taree/Port Macquarie. Min stay 1 week unless you have own transport. Long stays are welcome as we love having visitors, sharing stories and showing them our beautiful river and plateau environment.

Claire and Brian have retired to a bush block, a little less than 100 acres in the Lockyer Valley in Queensland. We have owned and lived on the property between working away for about 20 years. Now we want to continue to work on restoration and regeneration of the land. Claire is a beekeeper and potter and Brian, a retired engineer, is developing a small goat herd to assist with weed management on the property. We are interested in sustainable living, organic and biodynamic practices, but are very much beginners in the field. Brian is developing fencing, shelter and watering points etc for the animals & sustainable irrigation for plants and trees. Claire is developing a compost system, a rose (for essential oils) and herb garden and plantings in the apiary for the bees. As we have relocated to this section of the property the pottery and gardens are being re-established, so there is a lot of digging, weeding and planting to assist with. We do not require hands-on help with the bees, but assistance constructing supers, frames and extracting honey and processing honeycomb will be appreciated. We work to a weekly and seasonal timetable and would need help for 5 hours per day three days per week. We have an Air BnB cottage on the property and WWOOFers would be accommodated in this, all meals, internet, electricity, water etc included. We envisage a couple, with no children or pets. There is no public transport. We are a 15 minute drive from town so WWOOFers would need a car. We have one meat meal, one chicken meal and one fish meal per week. Breakfast, lunch and other dinners are vegetarian. For health reasons we do not smoke, nor can permit smoking on the property. Illegal drug taking will not be countenanced.
