We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angus river running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable garden with free-roaming bantams, big-layer hens, flower beds and lawns, as well as  2 goats on paddocks.  I run a sustainable architecture & building consulting business from home. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation  for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. All share in home cooked evening meal. Mixed diet. No smokers please. Longer stays (min 3 weeks) preferred after initial few days. Use of a car possible for the right person. We have a beautiful 40 acre horse agistment property, veggie garden & fruit trees and approx. 5 acres bush. 3 min drive to surf beach, bay beach & Inverloch town or 10 min drive to Wonthaggi, a larger town. Push bikes available. We are very interested in living a sustainable lifestyle and hope that our WWOOFers are also interested in living sustainably and learning, and sharing knowledge of this. Work may include harvesting, food collection, composting, mulching, hay carting, weeding, fencing, planting, food preservation.  Sometimes there is some work caring for horses: often all the work is in the garden and paddock maintenance, as the horses are mainly looked after by their owners. We eat a healthy, sustainable diet.  Bron is vegan and while Ray eats everything, many meals are vegan or vegetarian.  Vegetarians & vegans catered for.  No children, no smoking, all stays negotiable on application. Hi there lovely travellers! Sam (37) Clara (31) and Reilly (1.5) here. While Reilly was just a twinkle our eyes, Clara and I spent 4.5 years travelling Australia in our awesome veggie oil-powered Landcruiser, searching for the most beautiful spots to set up camp and call home for a week or two. After our first 3 month tour of Tasmania, we just fell in love with the place, returning every summer for more of the same. Somehow we just knew we'd end up here. As we travelled, we gained a real appreciation for simple living and developed a taste for the best organic local food sourced from farmers markets as we went. This just helped fuel the dream of a beautiful camp to set up in permanently, and do our best at living a low impact, natural, self-sufficient, homesteading lifestyle. When 6 months pregnant, out of the blue, the bank of Dad called up and offered a loan to help make our dream come true. And we‘ve always dreamed big.

Our farm is a mixed cropping, and grazing property set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow ginger, turmeric and garlic, along with vegetables, berries and a mixed fruit and nut orchard. Our animals include a small Jersey dairy herd, a  beef cow and five steers for meat. We also have five heritage breeding sows and two boars, and a few boys and girls destined for pork eventually and currently we have 14 piglets of various ages. In addition we have poultry, Pekin ducks for eggs and meat, a mixed flock of about 30 chickens that produce gorgeous eggs daily. Finally, we have 19 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away. Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a two- year-old Maremma, called Baci and an adorable Dixie puppy, called Dennis.

The seclusion & privacy of 1/4 acre in the heart of town with Australian birds & wild life a plenty. A relaxed family home, with a creek & bush reserve. Hot tub, Yoga spaces & wood fired oven. Our garden consists of fruit trees, Bush Tucker, herbs, veggies, chooks & ducks. Must love animals and have no allergies as we have indoor cats and our friendly Labrador, Dex. We follow permaculture because we are passionate about self-reliance & futuresteading for future generations. We love growing, cooking, preserving, fermenting, medicine -making & brewing our home-grown & local produce. We have many permaculture systems in place & can show how these self-sufficient principles work in a 'normal' aussie house block in suburbia. Other hobbies include bushwalking, surfing, music, craft, yoga, vintage cars & motorcycles. Work includes general tending of home & garden maintenance, making compost, mulching, digging, weeding, herb & food preserving. Accomodation for 2 in 'The Cottage', a private, self-contained 'tiny house' in our garden, with a Double bed, hot outdoor shower, composting toilet & camp kitchen. Some shared meals, mixed diet. 3-7 day stays. Keith is Canadian (we met while he was backpacking in Oz in '89), Nicole is of Italian heritage. We have 3 grown children & a beautiful baby grand daughter who live around the corner & visit often.  We are short walking distance to Mollymook beach, Harbour & shops & a few minutes drive to Milton. We are very easy going & only work a few hours a day, leaving you plenty of time to explore the beautiful south coast.

City/Town: Kangaroo Island

Share Island hospitality with a cool guy (me!), my famous dog Mundi and my 3 legged cat in the beautiful seaside village of American River where kangaroos and emus live behind my solar¬assisted property. Kangaroo Island lies off the mainland of South Australia, southwest of Adelaide. Over a third of the island is protected in nature reserves, home to native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and diverse bird species. In the west, Flinders Chase National Park is known for penguin colonies and striking coastal rock formations, like the sculpted Remarkable Rocks and the stalactite-covered Admirals Arch. My aim is to provide a relaxed and fun environment where company is more important than work; learn about landscaping, small gardening, minor building projects and use of tools in a workshop, and general chores. I offer 2 guest bedrooms, pool, BBQ, gym, bike, kayaks, boogie boards (surf nearby), walks, yachting, community activities. Mixed diet. NSI. Minimum 1 week stay. BYO humour. What to do on Kanagroo Island: https://southaustralia.com/places-to-go/kangaroo-island/things-to-do How long is the ferry ride from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island? SeaLink operates two large, modern vehicle and passenger ferries, SeaLion 2000 and Spirit of Kangaroo Island, with the journey taking just 45 minutes for the 16km crossing.

The House of the Rising Sun. Be the first to watch and wake up to the sunrise in Australia, perched on top of a mountain on the most eastern part of Australia, at the end of a valley, in a secret, giant forest overlooking the vast, majestic Pacific Ocean, is a place called Kinabalu. Many guests & travellers guests started to call it The Treehouse - a name that has now stuck. This is a private conservation park in principle with much work to do, including gardening, tree planting & environmental repair work. Surrounded by a rainforest sanctuary & nature reserve, you can take walks into old growth forest & swim in the waterfalls, so make sure you bring your walking shoes. It has been quite an achievement, building this over the last 11 years. I am presently focused on the garden. Come and plant some herbs if you have a green thumb. See you at The Treehouse - an experience you'll never forget!

Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building, Caravan, BYO Accommodation
Hello this Kate and Big Al here.  We are happy to welcome you. Lake Cootharaba retreat, our suburban Permaculture garden and retreat is situated in Boreen Point, a small village surrounded by the beautiful biosphere region of Cooloola National Park, on the shores of the stunning Lake Cootharaba and 1/2 hr from Noosa.  Our garden has evolved organically over the years according to  permaculture principles and ethics. A bohemian place with little nooks and grannies for reflection and relaxing. The garden is to be redesigned as a Permaculture teaching space. We also moved a small house onto a three acre rural property in Pomona, 20 minutes from Boreen Point two years ago. Half the property and the gardens around the newly established house are to be incorporated into a Permaculture design. So there is lots to learn and share and we are really open to learning too. With challenges due to Covid and difficulties with accomodation for many people we are open to longer stays and  possibilities to earn extra income in the neighbourhood or on the property. We have a few types of accomodation to choose from. Hoping to hear from you. Best wishes Kate and Al.
