I want to learn how others live and work on organic farms in Australia. I am looking for new experiences and to get out of the city and get my hands dirty. I have always been drawn to the idea of having an organic farm one day and I'd love to learn from you. As I am traveling around Australia this year it will be good to have some places to stop a long the way and learn local knowledge, places and recommendations. It will be great to get to know people and how they live. I think doing WWOOFing will be an awesome way to meet people, learn new skills (basic farming skills that everyone should know) and have an interesting place to stay on my journey.

I joined wwoof to help out on farms, to learn how to grow organically, to meet cool new people and do something a bit different. It is my dream to one day have my own bit of land and grow my own food, so the skills I learn now wwoofing will be so helpful acheiving my goal. I was born and raised in Karrinyup, in the suburbs of perth and want to get back in contact with more sustainable and authentic ways of living.

We are located north of sunny Brisbane in a beautiful native forest. We are regenerating the native bush land with local and interstate Australian native plants, most we propagate from seed, to attract birds and wildlife. We have many beautiful birds visit daily, parrots, cockatoo, kookaburra, lorikeets... and wallabies, koala and possums on occasions. We are interested in permaculture landscaping to create an habitat for birds and wildlife and where people can live harmoniously. We are creative people and live sustainably. We have an organic vegetable garden. I have been gardening all my life. I propagate my vegetables and herbs from saved seeds. Richard has a lot of experience in construction and loves designing and building with recycled timber. We have a large comfortable home with a swimming pool which is solar heated. You will have a private bedroom and bathroom with a very comfortable bed. Brisbane is in the subtropical region which means we have beautiful sunny weather most days of the year. We enjoy going with our volunteers to beaches, walking in the rainforests and hiking to the waterfall to swim. And certain times of the year we love to go whale watching and to visit the sea turtles nesting and hatching. We are both gourmet cooks. We are not chefs but we did own a restaurant a few years ago. We love healthy food and we are mostly vegetarian although we cater to any diet choices. We have many interesting and creative projects we need help with outside and occasionally inside. We require people to work 4-6 hours per day with 2 days off per week. We provide breakfast lunch and dinner. We would prefer people to stay at least two weeks and long term is an option. If you like our profile please send us a message.

City/Town: Kangaroo Island
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Caravan, Tent, BYO Accommodation
Nine Planets lies at the end of the Chapman River Sanctuary adjacent Lashmar's Lagoon Sanctuary and about 600 meters from Antechamber Bay, one of the largest, most pristine and undisturbed beaches on Kangaroo Island's coast. The Chapman River teams with bream and the beach is a sanctuary for endangered hooded plovers which nest in the sand just above the high water line in late spring. Garfish, tommies, flathead and mullet can be caught from the beach if you are adept at shore fishing. Lashmar's Lagoon is a sanctuary for waterbirds and teems with black swans, ducks, pelicans, sacred ibis and other birds. In winter and spring black swans grazing in pasture adjacent the lagoon outnumber farmers' sheep. Kangaroos, wallabies and goannas usually visit daily and dozens of bird species including magpies, currawongs, superb fairywrens, honeyeaters, thornbills, red browed finches and silver eyes call in for a drink and/or bath, whilst wedge tailed eagles and the very rare white bellied sea eagle may be seen soaring overhead. At night the calls of boobook owls can be heard in the distance. It is often windy, but rarely very hot or very cold.

We are not a farm but a suburban home, 25 km from the centre of Sydney, with a large garden. From time to time we also donate food for other charity events & love to have help with this. We support several charities and we also host refugees on a regular basis. WWOOFers wishing to visit Sydney can take a bus from near our home to explore the city. Accom for up to 2 people in spare bedrooms. Children b.a. Mixed diet, including vegetarian. NSI.

We offer hosted accommodation on the edge of the World Heritage Area in northern Tasmania. We are looking for some help with maintenance and gardening. We have been hosting WWOOFers from many different countries for nine years. Our WWOOFers have assisted with building gardens & orchards, painting & repairing the Lodge and with making jam, bread & chutney. We grow as much food as we can organically and process it for later use. We love to cook good food and can teach anyone interested. When we take guests on guided walks we also take our WWOOFers. There are mountains around if you like trecking. If you enjoy food, nature & photography this is a good place. We are conservation minded. Work includes gardening, weeding, planting, repairs, track maintenance, painting, jam making and firewood. We have a nice cabin for accommodation but occasionally also use our caravan. Space for 2 or 3 Email contact is best. We don't have mobile coverage. We do have internet which wwoofers can use.

I'm really concerned about the way we live as a society and how we might be doing real damage to nature. I'd like to learn more about organic farming and the relation between society and nature in a practical way. WWOOF looks like a good way to do it while I can also meet new people and travel around the amazing country that is Australia.

I discovered WWOOF when I was planning a trip to Canada earlier this year. The plan was to travel from West to East but spend some quality time WWOOFing, learn some sustainable permaculture skills with like-minded people. As you can imagine the lockdowns delayed those plans, now almost indefinitely, so the next best thing is to do it in Australia.
