I think that the way people grow food in an area in a good reflection of that place, and I want to experience this as I travel Australia for the first time. One day I'd love to set up an organic market garden, but I've got so much to learn before this is possible.

  • The Western District coastline of Victoria is where we have our 30 acres, with 5 acres of native bush. We have visiting native animal such as koalas, kangaroos and plenty of birds. It is only a short drive to the seaside town of Portland. We use rain water for everything and so planting with this in mind is very important. All that we are creating and building here is a wonderful learning and therapy experience. We would love you to join in with us as we try to create a place for all to enjoy even in our small way.

Traveling to Australia was a childhood dream from both of us and before we will start studying we want to explore a new country. We have decided to join WWOOF because we like to work outdoor, being active and help other people. Besides we would like to work with animals. Also in Germany we like to be in nature and do also manual work, therefore we are very excited to discover the stunning nature of Australia, with its animals and plants. We enjoyed the time during our internship on the farm very much, this is one reason why we had the idea to join WWOOF. Besides we would like to improve our english speaking skills by working with natives. We want to be a great support for the farms and we hope that we can get to know the nature of Australia. Besides we want to learn the methods of organic farming in Australia.

With aspirations of a career change on the horizon i am keen to spend time on various organic, bio-dynamic and permaculture based properties. Having a growing desire to learn all the facets of growing food and the ecological biodiversity that enhances it, WWOOFing appears an ideal avenue to supplement my knowledge.

We have 10 acres at bendigo and raise a small flock of sheep, and heritage poultry with 10 different breeds, we also have a Jack russell dog that helps with the chooks, we grow vegetables in wicking beds to save water and feed our poultry natural grains. Wh hatch beautiful chics and mostly have foster hens raise them, we also try to use everything preloved to leave a smaller foot print and so have some great structures and adaptations , we love to do mosaics and if happy to do so each wwoofer does a mosaic to leave here as a reminder of their visit. Bendigo is a beautiful historical town and has many more small historical towns near by. We are retired and very relaxed and are happy to fit in with wwoofers plans, all we require is respect, honesty and a sense of humour. We have a lovely bedroom for your comfort with shared bathroom, and great meals, my husband is a great cook. The best part is the interaction with new friends around our table of an evening and we love that.
