We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angus river running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable garden with free-roaming bantams, big-layer hens, flower beds and lawns, as well as  2 goats on paddocks.  I run a sustainable architecture & building consulting business from home. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation  for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. We've designed & built our home with pentagon-shaped rooms (i.e. Phi/Golden Ratio). Philippa uses permaculture/organic principles & Darrall is a designer/academic. We both love musical/philosophical conversations. Our property is 1 acre of land/gardens for fruit & veggies in a very small village 10km from Karuah, on the main Sydney-Queensland bus route. Our home is 100m from Port Stephens inland sea with a small boat. There are dolphins, wallabies, native birds, and 1000 acres of walkable bushland nearby. A 20 min drive will take you to shops, beaches & sand dunes. Work approx. 4hrs, mostly gardening & landscaping projects. Accommodation in-house or in on-site cottage. Mixed meals. No children. Negotiable stays. See our FB photo albums.

The Western District coastline of Victoria is where we have our 30 acres, with 5 acres of native bush. We have visiting native animal such as koalas, kangaroos and plenty of birds. It is only a short drive to the seaside town of Portland. We use rainwater for everything and so planting with this in mind is very important. All that we are creating and building here is a wonderful learning and therapy experience. We would love you to join in with us as we try to create a place for all to enjoy even in our small way.

Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Soil conservation, Animal Care, Mustering, Beekeeping, Building, Natural building methods, Tool making, Using and caring for tools, Mechanical, Wild food foraging, Fermenting food, Bread Making, Wine making
Instead of rushing from place to place, WWOOFing gives me the opportunity to take things slow and get to know not only the place but also the people who reside there. I look forward to connecting with likeminded people and it gives me a chance to learn unique skills that I cant necessarily learn anywhere else. Things I am interested in learning are: -The different ways everyone grows food in regards to different climates within 'Australia' To expand my mechanical knowledge where possible (this is where I am weakest) -How to milk goats -How to ride a horse (lifelong obsession of mine) Most importantly I want to learn how to be self sufficient, I acknowledge that we are facing a global climate emergency and that things are most likely going to get harder from here. I am most interested in those of you who are living off grid as I very much doubt that the food systems most 'Australians' currently use will  support us in a future of declining resources. I am here to learn from you.
