I have come to WWOOF in hopes to engage directly with positive ecology; an interest that is not limited to one form of practice. Through engagement with prominent and emerging farming practices, I hope to discover more techniques and strategies which may bring them together. I hope to find ways of balancing cash crop seasons with cover crops and rotational grazing. I hope to find ways of practising agroforestry with high biodiversity. I wish to learn about all aspects of farming; from the hunter-gather and permaculture skills from which we began, to the organic bio-dynamic agroforests to which we will go.

I joined WWOOF to gain experience as an individual and in organic farming, I believe the future is in organic, sustainable farming on a local and commercial scale. We're seeing how unethical our methods are with poor crop yield, and unhealthy soils. I would like to learn how to bring organic farming to my neighborhood, and my own backyard in the future to reduce my carbon footprint. I want to learn from other countries, and their methods of sustainable agriculture.

WWOOFing seems like a great way to travel and meet new people. I hope to learn new skills and knowledge along the way and experience different ways of life. I did some WWOOFing with my family when I was very young and although I don't remember a lot about it, my family tell me it was a really fun experience.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I would like to learn about organic farming and the local life in Australia. I was a Wwoofer in 2015 in New Zealand and stayed for one week with a family. I did some gardening, weeding, animal care and played with the kids. I really enjoyed the because because for me it is the best option to meet locals and learn from their lifes. Before I will start my next job in Germany, I want to clear my mind and regain new energy with a stay on a farm in Australia. This year we would like to start planting our own veggies and fruits in Germany and I hope I will return back to Germany with more experience and useful advices.

Last year I went to Bali to take care of sea turtles with other students from all over the world. It was a very nice experience, and I have learned a lot about life in general but also about me.

We decided to join WWOOF as a means for contributing towards the lives and livlihoods of farmers in rural communities. We are in a unique position where we can offer our time and skills and thereby hopefully instil a deeper love and respect for our country and its diverse environment in the hearts and hands of our sons.

It’s a safe way meet the people I enjoy meeting. I love travelling but not into the drinking partying life style that gets portrayed as backpacking. I want to learn and enrich my life with people and skill I learn and stories I can tell.

I've always wanted to work on a farm and now I have the free time to do so. I'm considering studying Horticulture and would also love to learn about permaculture so I thought this would be a great starting point. I'm eager to learn new skills, get my hands dirty and meet some great people - hopefully have some fun along the way. Also, I'm not afraid of doing a hard days work.

'Huntly' is an organic cattle property in the beautiful Arcadia Valley in Central Qld. We run 2000 head of cattle that graze on natural pastures & are rotated regularly. We practice Regenerative Agriculture in all aspects of soil, vegetation, water and wildlife. We grow a 1000ha native forest, harvest seeds & germinate. We also grow a healthy food forest with delicious seasonal tropic fruit. A permaculture garden supplies an abundance of fresh food and supports our chickens, worms & bees. The accommodation is a creative cool mud house that will cool & ground you. There is lots of opportunity to explore your creative side as well. One must be frog friendly, the green tree frogs are beautiful. We hold a two day festival every Equinox (March & September) where we celebrate the changing seasons. Next March we hope to explore Natural Sequence farming where water is slowed down and diverting into the landscape. Huntly is a beautiful and exciting property to stay with many National Parks to visit and bush walking on your days off. There are many opportunities and lots of fun to be had here.
