City/Town: Burrum Heads
Farming Methods: Biodynamic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
50-acre hobby farm, nestled in between the Burrum Coast National Park and the Isis River on a section of pristine waterway, a breathtaking natural environment. 30 minutes from Hervey Bay. We are using biodynamic principles to create our own soil and fertlisers, for food production and barter. Sandy soil means we start from scratch building raised garden areas and creating fertile soil using the resources nature supplies. Meet our friendly chickens and see nature up close as parrots, ducks, kangaroos, and wallabies regularly come to browse. Swim in the river, fish, kayak, bird watch or just relax in your downtime.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I would love to work at a place that helps me to develop the necessary skills for the future that I want to create (my own permaculture farm). I want to give myself the opportunities to gain insightful knowledge about sustainable living and permaculture from people who care about this way of living and see it as the future we should all be endeavouring to create. This is the reason I don't mind 'working to live' and why wwoofing is so appealing to me. I don't want my life to be about following where to money is. I want my life to be filled with learning knowledge and surrounding myself with people who positively impact my life. I would love to make new friends and connections with people who are like-minded and who live wholesome lives. I am happy to help with building projects, gardening, childcare (I am interested in learning more about home-schooling and Steiner/Waldorf teachings!) and general daily life chores and just helping in whatever way I can!

We are a young family living on a 5 acre property. We're a 5 minute drive from shops and public transport, but we enjoy a truly rural setting. We've been on our property for 3 years and have been busy establishing vegetable beds, increasing our orchard, settling chickens, pigs and sheep, but there are still many things that we plan to do here. Our current 'to-do' list includes projects such as designing & building animal housing, creating a glasshouse & more garden beds, improving soil, improving pasture, planting trees, maintaining and improving the historical homestead and much more. We use recycled materials wherever possible, and avoid chemicals.  We have accomodation for 2 in our home or caravan. Shared meals, mixed diet. Vegetarians catered for. We cook from scratch, using home produce and organic ingredients, and we eat excellent meals. Initial stay 3-5 days, longer stays neg. We look forward to welcoming friendly, willing workers.
