I have come to WWOOF in hopes to engage directly with positive ecology; an interest that is not limited to one form of practice. Through engagement with prominent and emerging farming practices, I hope to discover more techniques and strategies which may bring them together. I hope to find ways of balancing cash crop seasons with cover crops and rotational grazing. I hope to find ways of practising agroforestry with high biodiversity. I wish to learn about all aspects of farming; from the hunter-gather and permaculture skills from which we began, to the organic bio-dynamic agroforests to which we will go.

Sorry we are not currently taking Wwoofers. My husband lost his job due to COVID so we are doing all the work ourselves at present. We have a 5 acre boutique property, growing avocados, various fruit trees, vegetables and ornate gardens. In the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland, we are only 35 min drive from Mooloolaba Beach.

We (Christy and DJ) have the most wonderful piece of paradise in Northern NSW, in the Byron Hinterland. We have owned our little piece of heaven for about 2.5 years. Our working farm has 400 mature, organic avocado trees that had been neglected for several years before we bought the property. We are working hard to give these beauties the care they need to thrive once again.

Here on our farm we have Australian Native Finger Limes. This citrus variety is quite rare and we have some that are on the endangered and protected list. Our property is very close to the World Heritage National Park. There are crystal clear mountain streams nearby for swimming. We have a huge diversity of native animals on and around the property. Including, Wallabies (small Kangaroos) Platypus, Turtles, Cassowary and Echidnas to name a few. We also are a pedigree dog breeding business and have Miniature Schnauzers, French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs. We have puppies pretty much all year. We also have cattle. We have our 3 children living with us at home. Accomodation is a large private shed with its own bathroom, toilet and laundry. We also have wifi available to use and mobile reception is very good. Work on the farm will include care and maintainance of fruit trees, house duties and animal care. Including building, painting, dog feeding, tree mulching and weeding etc.

We live on 100 acres in the Margaret River region, with a large orchard and kitchen garden that produces a large amount of fruit and vegetables. We focus on regenerative farming, animal ethics, cooking and food production without chemicals. Currently we have chickens, sheep, dogs and cats and human children that go to the local high school but the animal numbers change regularly. We are still growing and developing so there are plenty exciting projects to be involved with.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I joined WWOOF because it was for me a unique occasion to try something new, to learn a lot of things I would never learn otherwise. In the context of climate change, I am interested more specifically in permaculture, as it allows not only to produce food by respecting and adapting to the environment but also to reshape our relationship with the land and nature. By WWOOFing, I hope to create a rewarding relationship with my hosts, so we can have a great human experience. Moreover, I would like to develop different skills: some basic ones, like learning how to grow vegetables, plants, or/and take care of animals but also some broader ones, like becoming more adaptable and creative when facing any kind of problem. Moreover, when I was younger, I loved helping my grandfather gardening, so I know I will like doing a WWOOFing. To sum it up, I would like to do a WWOOFing to learn new things, in a personal scale, by developing new skills and new knowledge about myself and also in a more global one, by discovering new way of living more respectful of the environment.

Happy Pig Farm is a bio-diverse Farm Tourism business in Stanthorpe South East Queensland. What our past WWOOFers have loved about being here is the diversity of experience from caring for our animals (pigs, sheep, chickens & horses), growing our own paddock to plate ingredients in our market gardens and meeting the many tourist who come to stay in our Farm Stay or visit our farm. They especially love the Good Food, Good Life and Good Company.

We have 2000 acres of sheep farm in the beautiful South West of Western Australia. I am an old guy living alone trying to rebuild a farm after it has been farmed under an industrial farming model for a long period of time. Three years in and I am slowly getting it in order with new fencing, livestock and infrastructure, and using Regenerative Farming practices. Basically Regenerative Farming uses techniques and practices from a range of farming disciplines to improve the soils and diversity on the farm. I use Permaculture, Holistic and a range of other farming practices on this particular property. It's a work in progress but I am slowly getting there. The farm is adjacent to several nature reserves and visitors have ample opportunity to interact with a wide range of native animals and habitat.

With aspirations of a career change on the horizon i am keen to spend time on various organic, bio-dynamic and permaculture based properties. Having a growing desire to learn all the facets of growing food and the ecological biodiversity that enhances it, WWOOFing appears an ideal avenue to supplement my knowledge.
