I've recently left my regular career and city lifestyle in the hope of gaining some great skills, meeting some knowledgable and wonderful people on my tree change journey and exploration of my beautiful home country. I'm excited by the idea of WWOOFing as I'm eager to connect with and learn from those who share a like minded value for organic farming practices. These are skills I can't wait to develop and am sure I will value in the future! I also love hearing people's stories and sharing experiences with people who I otherwise may not have met had it not been for an experience like WWOOFing.

For a high school graduate on a gap year, WWOOFing is a practical way for me to travel on a budget. At the same time, I’d love to take it as a detox from the “big city syndrome”. Being a city girl living in a fast-paced society, I feel myself constantly being pigeon-holed into a prideful belief in individualism. I believe that working on a farm while WWOOFing allows me to integrate into a community lifestyle that I always dreamed of experiencing. Browsing through stories posted by fellow WWOOFers all around the world, I am pumped up to sieve through the freshest produce and discover the origins of our food (which we rarely get educated on in a small city-state like Singapore), roam freely around lovely animals, and spend quality time with you hosts as we integrate into your farms and homes. At the same time, I understand that it is often common for city dwellers to romanticise the rural lifestyle, so despite my rose-tinted view of WWOOFing, I hope that the actual experience of farming will offer me a slice of reality. All in all, I wish to establish meaningful connections with you hosts and enjoy exploring your place of residency during my stay.

City/Town: Waroona
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building, Caravan
We live on a 12 acre property in Waroona which has been an ongoing labour of love for the last 6 years. Our vision is to create a mostly native garden, that will eventually be open to the public for weddings and small retreats. Our journey started 6 years ago on a bare canvas that was originally a dairy farm with no trees. We have been learning new skills as we go along and see WWOOF as a great way to teach what we've learnt and also learn other skills from our WWOOFers. I believe everybody has something to teach AND something to learn. We are looking for people who would like to share our space and help around the property. Tasks include gardening, painting, building and a myriad of creative projects still waiting to be born. We are open to other peoples creative idea's, suggestions and skills. In return we offer great food, music, conversation and a great place to relax when not working.

Traveling to Australia was a childhood dream from both of us and before we will start studying we want to explore a new country. We have decided to join WWOOF because we like to work outdoor, being active and help other people. Besides we would like to work with animals. Also in Germany we like to be in nature and do also manual work, therefore we are very excited to discover the stunning nature of Australia, with its animals and plants. We enjoyed the time during our internship on the farm very much, this is one reason why we had the idea to join WWOOF. Besides we would like to improve our english speaking skills by working with natives. We want to be a great support for the farms and we hope that we can get to know the nature of Australia. Besides we want to learn the methods of organic farming in Australia.

We do not use any sprays or chemicals in gardening and try to follow the principles of nature. Our land draws in many different native birds. We are both on our gap years and have just spent the last three months on an adventure guide program in and around Queenstown, New Zealand training to become rock climbing and hiking guides. Following that adventure, we are looking to travel and learn as many new skills as we can over the next year! We would absolutely love to learn more about permaculture and sustainable/organic farming and so WOOFING seemed like the perfect chance to do so. We are also very firm believers in giving back to the community we're living in, supporting small local businesses and reducing our environmental impact.

I'm looking to experience Australia through the authentic connections you can only really make by working on a farm. I know of lots of people who have WWOOFed, and they all say they've gained so much from their experiences.
