Virtue Farm is a 33 acre property overlooking Fraser Island, and includes 27 acres of remnant forest which will never be developed. The forest is an oasis for bird life and other animals and is great for walking.  We are 10 minutes from Hervey Bay and 10 minutes from the Fraser Island Barge that leaves from River Heads.  We have an existing permaculture garden and are upscaling to small farm size. Our house block is 1.5 acres and backs on to the farm land.  We are in the beginning stages of becoming a commercially viable farm, so you will be helping to establish our property. We ask for five hours of work per day per person, depending upon the type of work and we can be very flexible in this regard. This could include farm work, vegetable patch work, caring for the chooks, moving small saplings, rock picking, planting, mulching, weeding, harvesting, fencing, land clearing and chopping wood  and general home maintenance. If you have any specific skill base or interest we are open to negotiation. In return, we will supply an evening meal shared with us and you can prepare your own breakfasts and lunch from what we supply. Accommodation  for 4 in a granny flat downstairs, we have 1 room with two king single beds - can be joined to make a king, 1 room with a queen size bed. We can accommodate singles and couples. Mixed diet and a mix of vegetarian and meat based meals.  Whilst we have some capacity to cater for vegans, we will have to learn from you to assist us to cater for your needs and are willing to do so within limits. Internet access is available close to the house. Virtue Farm  acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Butchulla people, where we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

We are a young family living on a 5 acre property. We're a 5 minute drive from shops and public transport, but we enjoy a truly rural setting. We've been on our property for 3 years and have been busy establishing vegetable beds, increasing our orchard, settling chickens, pigs and sheep, but there are still many things that we plan to do here. Our current 'to-do' list includes projects such as designing & building animal housing, creating a glasshouse & more garden beds, improving soil, improving pasture, planting trees, maintaining and improving the historical homestead and much more. We use recycled materials wherever possible, and avoid chemicals.  We have accomodation for 2 in our home or caravan. Shared meals, mixed diet. Vegetarians catered for. We cook from scratch, using home produce and organic ingredients, and we eat excellent meals. Initial stay 3-5 days, longer stays neg. We look forward to welcoming friendly, willing workers.

We live on a 62 acre (25.5ha)property and grow the bulk of our vegetables and fruit organically. We run a few Jersey cows which we milk, free range Berkshire pigs, a small flock of Wiltipol sheep and some poultry. We aim to feed our livestock from grain and hay produced on the property. Work with us will be diverse and could include animal care,  preparation of animal feed, gardening, picking and preserving of fruit and vegetables, crop and hay production as well as general farm maintenance. There are always projects on the go that range from shed work to paving. We will  feed you well with food and meat grown on our farm, shared with us at our table. You will have a comfortable room with reverse cycle air conditioning in our home, access to satellite TV, mobile reception and in summer a swimming pool. We welcome both couples and singles but can only accommodate a maximum of two people at one time. The closest town is Merredin, 30km from our farm and Merredin is 260km from Perth. A train service runs most days between Merredin and Perth and we will happily provide transport to and from the station.

Situated just north of Newcastle on 1 acre, we are a suburban market garden applying biointensive and permaculture principles. We run 30 x 10m raised garden beds growing chemical free seasonal vegetables that we sell to private clients and the fortnightly Maitland Earth Market. Our farming principles are based on The Market Gardener Jean-Martin Fortier Master Class education and permaculture courses from Milkwood and Limestone Permaculture. We are a family of 5 with 3 children under twelve. Our children are home schooled and are required to help on the farm as part of their education. When we are not farming we spend time our time 4WD ing and walking local beaches, camping in the Barrington Tops mountains, bush walking Australia's top 100 walks, and boating and fishing inshore and offshore. Accomodation available is in a private bedroom with a double bed, cupboard and a personal bathroom and toilet.

We are a young couple rebuilding a small organic market garden on an intentional community. Green Shovel Farm is in recovery after being burnt out in the recent fires (YES THIS MEANS YOU CAN QUALIFY FOR 2ND/ 3RD YEAR VISA HERE!) and we were selling a good amount of produce at a local farmer's market and to some friends and family. We have a sheep and a goat, two horses, assorted ducks and chickens, and a toddler daughter. We live on an intentional community which is in its early years and growing well. The community is on 210 acres of amazing bushland, cliffs and rolling hills in the Nymboida village next to the Nymboida River (check out the whitewater adventure stuff online!). Pick up and drop off from Grafton or Coffs Harbour with prior notice.
