We both wanted an opportunity to meet different people, to lend a hand and learn their ways of organic agriculture. It would create a level of intimacy and purpose to our travels. We hope to learn how people go about contributing to our populations food or feed themselves, from paddock to plate with minimal impact on the environment. To open our minds to alternative practice and getting us in touch with the work that goes into our food. Develop an appreciation for our meals and a respect towards the land it comes from. And SIMPLY we just would like to get our hands dirty and then share a rewarding meal and beverage with the hosts post our hard days work. To share our stories and have a laugh.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering. We appreciate help, enjoy young people and having an excuse to visit the beautiful and interesting places Adelaide, the hills and the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia have to offer with them. Due to the corona virus all our booked overseas helpers had to cancel their flight to Australia. The first time in Years we might at times be without helpers at all. Some local Australian helpers, unable to go overseas are now filling the gap which is very nice as we used to have overseas helpers only before. Please read through all the text below and only apply if you think this is for you. We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angas River running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable gardens with free roaming bantams, big layer hens, a Muscovy duck, flower beds, lawns as well as two goats on paddocks and a cute house cat. 1 of our 4 kids, Katharina, is living next door with her partner. Bernward is semi retired but still runs a sustainable architecture and building consultancy business part time from offices attached to the home. Barbara works at the local hospital. We have been accommodating helpers since 2011  through various help exchange sites. If you want a break from travelling in a non judgmental  friendly  family environment and you are open and self-motivated, this is the place for you. This is not an action or party place but rather a place to relax and get creative with great light, & scenery for painting and photography, write and get back to nature. A big woodworking workshop invites creativity. I enjoy teaching woodworking skills to our helpers with the option to learn how to fit out campervans and tiny houses. A couple of times a week we heat up our Sauna and helpers are welcome to join. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation  for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. All share in home cooked evening meal. Mixed diet. No smokers please. Longer stays (min 3 weeks) preferred after initial few days. Please contact us via email only.

I did lots of Wwoofing when I was in New Zealand, and it was good memory. For me, through this Wwoofing, I learn so many things. And Because it's about farming or growing things, to me, it's very interesting and fun to see. Also, I can see so many different lives, and my view gets bigger and bigger.

The Sunshine retreat is situated in between some of the most magnificent beaches in Australia and the hinterland of the Sunshine coast. We have sweeping rural view right out to the ocean. We grow Bananas, Mangoes, Lychees, Grapes, Citrus, Papaya in addition to many different varieties of vegetables. I am a practitioner and certified in Bill Mollision’s style of Permaculture. Volunteers would receive knowledge in this form of organic gardening. The retreat backs onto 20,000 acres of conservation reserve meaning the retreat is teaming with native Australian wildlife including Wallabies, Goannas, Echidnas and a large array of birds. We provide stylish accommodation to both Australian and International travellers. There are two guest suites that are rented out for minimum three-night stays. The helper would receive food and rent free of charge. As we are a rural property ideally you should have your own transport. Lifts to and from shops and bus stops can be arranged upon request if the helper cannot get transport. If you are into amazing blue beaches with golden sand, nature walks, swimming and the great outdoors the Sunshine coast is for you. It has also been one of the safest places in the world during the COVID crisis.

Having both WWOOFed in the past we wish to relight the WWOOFing fire in our lives, We are both fully aware that Farmers and their farming (no matter the scale) is no easy feat and is underlooked by mainstream people worldwide. The importance of farming and helping others, working in or creating community to get things done is important to us.

"Namoorook" circa 1895, is a beautifully restored homestead on 71 acres of farm land approximately 1.5 kms from Leongatha and 130kms from Melbourne. Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens. We hope it will become an example of how food and farming systems can use the power of nature to increase biodiversity, enrich the soil, capture carbon, improve watersheds enhancing the entire ecosystem.
