I joined WWOOF because I really like the attitude towards life on a farm and I want to know what it's like and what it means to live and work on a farm "at the world's other end". Furthermore I really want to get to know country and people and I love working with and around animals.

Our farm is located 33km west of Tamworth NSW, on 460 acres. It is a beautiful part of NSW, a few hours inland from the coast and about 5 hours north of Sydney, 7 hours south of Brisbane. We live at the end of a dirt road on the top of a hill with no neighbours in site, this really is “country Australia!”. We breed horses and farm beef cattle. Our focus is on regenerative agriculture - using sustainable farming practises to improve and regenerate soils and the environment, and enhance productivity. We have owned our farm for 8 years and are building new infrastructure to improve it, including fencing and water troughs. We have around 30 horses at most times with several foals born each year. We breed quarter horses, that we then break in and train for the western sport of “cutting”, which involves working cows. You can check out our Facebook page Three Leaf Stud to see more about our horses. Rafe competes in cutting and reined cow horse when he has time, and I compete in the English disciplines of Eventing, show jumping, and dressage. So we have a range of horses, not just quarter horses, also thoroughbreds and warmbloods. Depending on the time of year, you may experience foaling season, starting horses under saddle, or horse shows. If you are a competent rider you may have the chance to ride regularly,  however this can’t be guaranteed until we see your skills in practice! A typical day here involves feeding and checking all the horses twice a day, checking water troughs and fence lines, and feeding cattle. We operate a hydroponic fodder factory sprouting barley seeds for our cattle, so seeding this, cleaning it and feeding out the fodder is a daily process. We ride most days and then the tasks vary from day to day, sometimes it’s fencing, or helping build something, fixing something, gardening, every day is different! Our house is quite modern and air conditioned, you will have your own room in our house with a beautiful view and bathroom, WiFi. We expect you to be clean and tidy and to help with things like doing the dishes, we cook and eat a mixed diet with meat and vegetables... and chocolate. We are both 40, no kids, friendly labrador called BenDog and a cool stable cat called BobCat. We treat people as we expect to be treated, and believe that in life, you get back what you put in!

I joined this platform because I feel wwoofing really reflects the spirit of a Working Holiday Visa and what I want to discover in my trip. It is part hard working and part relaxing while discovering Australian landscapes, people and way of life. I want to help people in the best way I can while learning new skills and more about them and myself.

I joined because I want to see the world, be a part of a global experience and live outside of my comfort zone. I am interested in working with others in community, in learning about new cultures, and about finding myself. I think it is the best time in my life to venture out into the world and discover new people, have new experiences, and figure out how I want to design my life.

As I said before I have never left the U.S. before and I am eager for the opportunity to do so. I have law school aspirations and I expect I will be very busy in the future. I decided to travel before law school because so often ‘travelling later’ becomes ‘never going’ and I don’t want to miss my opportunity to see the world. I chose WWOOF because I have had friends who have gone before and loved every minute of it. I also joined WWOOF because I miss working on my father’s farm. I miss being outside and I even miss the manual labor. I want another chance at being out in nature, and I want to learn more about organic farming which I hope to implement on a small scale in my future. I chose Australia because I have had some family and friends that have traveled to your beautiful country and all have loved it!

Gowrie Mountain is 20 minute drive west of Toowoomba. Toowoomba is one of the largest inland citys in Australia, settled in the rural areas of the Darling Downs. The easy and harder walking and bike trails wind through native vegetation. We are also know for our flower festivals. "Valley Downs" is a  10 acres lifestyle property overlooking a country valley. I have 1 spoilt dog who needs attention & some grooming. Being a new property for us there is a lot of development to be done. We always have different projects on the go. The establishment of a fruit tree grove is our highest priority followed by horse stables, yards, paddocks, tree and shrub planting not to mention  making  or fixing things using woodwork or metalworking tools. Accommodation in my home or in a motorhome whichever you prefer with the use of internet facilities. Meat-style meals. Can P/U from Toowoomba with prior notice.

Bonnie Brae is a 1000 acre farm which has transitioned into regenerative agriculture in the past year from industrial agriculture. The farms main income is Merino sheep, both for wool and meat. However we have a very large vegetable garden and orchard which we are still looking to expand. The farm is owned by Don and Prue McAllister (65), and Dougal (27) is taking over the farm and manages the day to day work. Hilary (30), the daughter of Don and Prue is also home during Covid 19. Work for WWOOFers will include working and expanding the vegetable garden, fencing, painting, building maintenance, cooking, cleaning, picking pistachios, tree planting and much more. If WWOOFers have any skills or ideas, we would be more than welcome to let them explore their interests and put them into practice.

At Dreams Alpaca Farm we take pride in our picturesque valleys and hilly countryside.

Our farm, located in Windeyer NSW, operates as a farm stay.  The main house (our residence) is located at the top of the hill. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom dwelling, which can sleep a woofer in the 3rd bedroom. We also have a cabin and Tiny House at the front of the property. These are both rented out to tourists and anyone who is eager to experience a relaxing retreat from all the hustle of city life.

Carlos and Caro are the superstars on the property! Carlos is a pure bread Australian Red Kelpie who is a master at herding the animals. He likes to show them who is boss! Caro is an Italian Livestock Guard Dog, warning away any foxes and kangaroos which may potentially harm any of the animals on the property. Both Carlos and Caro are happy and friendly dogs which love affection and a little pat.

Moving forward to becoming an organic and self sufficient property, we produce our own organic honey using bee hives located in one of our paddocks. Our pigs and lambs are used to produce organic meat of the highest quality, and the free range chickens lay the most delicious eggs. Pampero our resident Angloarab Horse and Jessie the pony are very friendly and enjoy keeping visitors company. We house a variety of other animals such as alpacas, goats, sheep, geese and peacocks.
