Claybale House Last Active: Active 37 minutes ago City/Town: ChidlowViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: Separate BuildingWe live 45 km from Perth, 20mn walking distance from the Chidlow Post Office, the bus stop, forests & lake Leschenaultia. In the last 20 + years, we have developed our hobby farm: built a solar-passive straw-bale home, established an extensive garden as well as grown three children, home-schooled with the help of WWOOFers!!! They are now young adults, two of which still live at home. With our daughters, we grow vegetables, flowers, herbs & fruit trees. We have 3 cows and a calf, 6 goats, 2 sheep, lots of chickens, an old pony, 4 bee hives & lots of visiting birds. Work includes general hobby-farming activities such as gardening, and maintenance jobs, with occasionally some more skillful work such as rock wall building, shelter building or else, checking bees/ extracting honey etc... Accommodation is in annex for 1 – 2 non-smoking WWOOFers. We cook only vegetarian meals, mostly organic, shared with the family, although we can accommodate vegan and gluten free diets. We also speak French at home, we love playing traditional folk music, classical or old 60's songs, singing, bush-walking, we're also interested in art & craft, travel, health, spirituality and philosophy, fun, and good food. Most hot days, we'll end at the lake for a cool down swim! In addition, I’m interested in culture, lifestyle or work style of different countries, so I’d like to have an opportunity to stay with multicultural people and encounter a new set of values through experience of WWOOF. And also I’d like to learn about permaculture to put into practice it in the future. Tired of the city life. I also want to see some of this great country and give back to the backbone of this country. My plan is to have no fixed address for awhile. I have had a desire to work on farms for a long time and now is the time to make that move. I want to learn a whole lot of new skills and put those skills to use by helping out our farmers. I want to develop my skills so I can farm sit, part time caretaker etc. I like Rural Aid’s Farm Army and Farm Rescues, I would love to assist more I'm looking to meet so many interesting and fabulous people and Wwoofing seem like a great way to do that. I'm wanting life to not be predictable and not the same #%*! different day kina of thing. WWOOF is a perfect place for me to volunteer. To get back to my philosophy of "small is beautiful" lifestyle and community. I want to visit scenic, different locations where I've never been. Where WWOOF Hosts will have interesting and sustainable projects. Variety is the spice of (my) life. Whilst I'm not skilled in a lot of the farming techniques that WWOOF Hosts will be using, I'm happy to learn. I'm not afraid of hard work or long hours. I'm average strength and fitness. I spent a few weeks in Central Otago farming country in New Zealand in June 2021 helping my friend on her property. Acting as her clayton's WWOOFer. Loved it. But I'd already decided I wanted to go WWOOFing in Australia long before I went to NZ. It's been an aim for many years. Just a matter now of getting the van and bike on the road. Seize all opportunities that arise. While at same time helping hardworking, conscious people realise their own sustainable, small carbon footprint lifestyle.
