Skills I Want to Learn: Permaculture/Biodynamics, Gardening, Pruning, Propagating, Composting, Soil conservation, Biodynamics practices and techniques, Mulching, Animal Care, Beekeeping, Worm farming, Fencing, Building, Natural building methods, Tool making, Handyman, Mechanical, Cheese making, Preserving food, Wild food foraging, Fermenting food, Bread Making, Wine making
I joined WWOOF to learn more about Australia while I travel and am out of work, to get out of the city, meet people and learn about regenerative agriculture and aquaculture. I want to own a farm one day soon too! I am in between jobs, I have been a flood engineer for a number of years but do not align with the lifestyle, do not agree with the implemented solutions and have burnt myself out from working in a city office on jobs that impact rural areas without ever visiting the site. I miss working with people and miss working on localised problems. I need a change and have always been drawn to agriculture due to my upbringing. WWOOFing for a while suits me.

I hope that WWOOF will connect me with people living the lifestyle I seek to live. I want to understand how people and community's can thrive whilst supporting the natural systems that they rely on. I'm seeking first hand experience with like minded people who have already commenced their journey of sustainability. I believe that living and working with such people will provide a great insight into what to expect and how to better create environmental balance. Human connection is another reason why I have chosen to WWOOF. I love meeting people, sharing stories, experiences and knowledge. I hope to find out more about the people living this lifestyle and the journeys that have taken them to running these projects. Lastly, I hope to experience a variety of environments and practices. I know I want to create a life of balance with our natural systems, however the where and how remains a mystery. I hope that WWOOFing will provide me with the chance to experience a wide range of methods and regions.

I have already been a WWOOFer 10 years ago when I did a Work and Holiday year in New Zealand. I never forgot the awesome experiences I made with different kind of people and very different life styles and always wanted to do it again. Luckily I get the chance now to make more of these great experiences.

To learn from farmers and fellow WWOOFERS and to contribute to a worthy life purpose... growing food and caring for the land and its inhabitants. I am now able to travel Australia wide, spending time on the land to understand this diverse environment. I have recently completed a number of farm sitting roles over the past two years, that primarily involved caring for farm animals and pets.

I think WWOOF is a good way to make yourself useful and get to know about permaculture, local life, people and the country at the same time. I got very much interested into permaculture during my first WWOOF stay and I would be happy to start my own veggie/fruit garden when I get back home.

I'd love to learn more about sustainability and growing food. I'm hoping to one day live alternatively, away from the rat race of cities and closer to nature and real community. Meeting new people and making new friends, learning about alternative lifestyles is also high on my list.

I joined wwoof to help out on farms, to learn how to grow organically, to meet cool new people and do something a bit different. It is my dream to one day have my own bit of land and grow my own food, so the skills I learn now wwoofing will be so helpful acheiving my goal. I was born and raised in Karrinyup, in the suburbs of perth and want to get back in contact with more sustainable and authentic ways of living.

We are a historic homestead dating back to 1865 in Lilydale. We are on 65 acres and have a hobby farm which includes 6 cattle, 14 sheep, 4 goats, 2 horses, chickens, dogs and cats.  We have a veggie garden, fruit trees, paddocks and grounds that need maintaining. We have a comfortable two bedroom cottage for Woofers. We are a busy family with four children and it would be great to have assistance around the property. There is a bus stop at the end of our driveway to the nearby town of Lilydale (2km), with busses and trains to melbourne- under 1 hour.

I did some WWOOFing in France and it's always been a great experience, in terms of learning, hearing and sharing life stories, and contributing to host's projects. With a project of shifting to farm life at some point, I am willing to get more hands-on experience, learn as much as I can and experience farm life. WWOOFing has always allowed me to meet new, skilled and passionate people willing to have a positive, sustainable impact and I look forward to more in Australia!

Just retired, sold or gave away most of my stuff and am about to embark on an adventure. I am going to live in my Toyota Hi-Ace and travel around the country. I want to have new experiences, learn new things and meet a variety of people. WWOOF sounds like a perfect way to satisfy my ambitions while also helping others. I have only ever lived in Melbourne and Brisbane for the last 52 years. Although I have been to other places including a number of other countries, I want to experience a different side to life. I want to move off the tourist trail and see how other people live and linger a bit longer to get a real feel for the places I visit.
