James has had a little experience WWOOFing before, as have many friends. We're inspired to meet people living off the land, building and growing things with their hands and practicing different ways of living. We hope to learn new skills, open our minds to new ideas and have fun.

We are looking to gain new experiences, meet new people, learn, embrace all that comes our way and show our kids there is more to life than work and paying off a mortgage.

I believe in the near future we will have to be much more self sustaining than we are and I am looking to gain as much knowledge as possible on growing food, working with animals, building and especially off-grid living

Before coming to Australia I managed to get a job working at a school in Sydney, however as a result of lockdown and schools moving to online learning there is no work to do. (This is because most of the work I would be doing is sports coaching and assisting in a boarding house). Thankfully after my quarantine I have been fortunate to stay with my Uncle who lives in Lismore. Although having only spent a limited amount of time here, I have really enjoyed the environment and lifestyle which is certainly different to the UK. I think working on a farm out here would be an amazing opportunity with so much to learn and experience. I think working on a farm would be a positive challenge as it is an industry that I know very little about.

When I travelled Australia I WWOOFed at a few spots in WA. Now with the family we would love to enjoy and be part of a working farm to get experience and feel the lifestyle. Instead of weeks holidays we would live to work a little and teach our kids a little more about animals and nature.

To explore different parts of the country. Learn about permaculture and off grid living and meet people. As I have an interest in off grid living it would be good to meet other people doing this and also to explore parts of the country I may like to live in the future.

Grant has a range of experience growing food and managing farms, having started in horticulture 43 years ago, then creating a landscaping business in Sydney for 8 years. He completed a Permaculture Design Certificate 35 years ago and upgraded the landscaping business to an edible landscape business shortly after. He then opened 3 nurseries in Sydney selling organic herbs, vegetables and ferns. He worked in the Findhorn Community in Scotland for 3 years looking after a nursey section, market garden and a large tunnel house growing summer crops. Directly after that he managed a 1 ½ acre market garden supplying vegetables to The Columbus Hotel on the Isle of Iona. Grant has been working with internationally renowned permaculturist, Geoff Lawton on a regular basis making permaculture videos for over 6 years. As a family we have been hosting Willing Workers on Organic Farms for over 18 years. We are looking for an energetic person with a strong work ethic with a physical working background and general gardening experience is preferred. There are also many building projects so any skill in that area is a bonus. My work and studies shed an insight into why I want to start WWOOFing. I am passionate about sustainable resource management and agriculture but have spent most of my career at a desk. I am itching to get outdoors and gain some practical skills and experience on the land. I grew up in the Hunter Valley and have fond memories of riding quad bikes, milking cows, and collecting eggs on friends' farms. I've had a bit of experience in tree planting, floral data collection and habitat assessments through my degree.

I’ve never really worked in a farm before so I thought this is perfect way to break that barrier. I also love to meet new people and I think volunteering is the best way to do that. (Obviously its a cheap way to travel too) 😉

To learn more about growing food and to live the lifestyle, to be surrounded by a beautiful place and meet people with a similar mindset. I'm passionate about sustainable agriculture and good, healthy food. I studied Soil Science for four years and have since been traveling around to small-scale organic farms learning about sustainable farming practices and integrating my knowledge of soil fertility and plant health. I love composting! I hope to one day start my own small farming enterprise where I can help educate people on the benefits and importance of regenerative agriculture.

It seems like a better way of working while travelling than the standard way of finding work, having that monetary relationship, worrying about where to live, trying to negotiate wages and all the other humdrum stuff. It sounds like the hosts are willing to share their knowledge, know how and experiences and be friendly at the same time. A very welcome change.

We joined in 2011 whilst travelling through the Scottish Highlands and Pembrokeshire in Wales and found it to be a very rewarding and enriching way to learn generally and about ourselves.

I'm just looking to get away from the hubbub for a while and learn some new skills. I'm Interested in agriculture and food storing practices, home brewing, eco dying and anything involving fermentation. So WWOOFing seems ideal.

I joined WWOOF, because I love helping people. I want to see parts of Australia and meet amazing people and places. I have been interested in volunteering since a young age and this is a great platform and opportunity to do this! What I hope to achieve out of this is new experiences, new skills and knowledge and really growing and widening perspective and my journey. I hope to meet people that I can learn from, see how they live and sustain themselves and their land. And to overall have a wonderful time.
