Cootharaba Lake Retreat - A Place to relax and Learn Last Active: active 19 hours, 49 minutes ago City/Town: Boreen PointViewFarming Methods: PermacultureAccommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building, Caravan, BYO AccommodationHello this Kate and Big Al here. We are happy to welcome you. Lake Cootharaba retreat, our suburban Permaculture garden and retreat is situated in Boreen Point, a small village surrounded by the beautiful biosphere region of Cooloola National Park, on the shores of the stunning Lake Cootharaba and 1/2 hr from Noosa. Our garden has evolved organically over the years according to permaculture principles and ethics. A bohemian place with little nooks and grannies for reflection and relaxing. The garden is to be redesigned as a Permaculture teaching space. We also moved a small house onto a three acre rural property in Pomona, 20 minutes from Boreen Point two years ago. Half the property and the gardens around the newly established house are to be incorporated into a Permaculture design. So there is lots to learn and share and we are really open to learning too. With challenges due to Covid and difficulties with accomodation for many people we are open to longer stays and possibilities to earn extra income in the neighbourhood or on the property. We have a few types of accomodation to choose from. Hoping to hear from you. Best wishes Kate and Al. I volunteer in the Grovedale Community Garden (it has a Facebook page); in the Grovedale Community Orchard (also has a Facebook page); and buy and help with the Grovedale Veggie Box which supplies me with fresh, organic vegetables (also Facebook page). From all these places I learn more about how to sustainably garden and look after my chickens. Park Like Gardens in Mullumbimby Last Active: active 2 weeks, 1 day ago City/Town: MullumbimbyViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: In Our HomeOur small hobby farm is 2.5 kms from Mullumbimby town centre, 10 kms to Brunswick Heads beaches & the beautiful Brunswick River, and 26 km to Byron Bay. On small 2 acres, we have chickens, some fruit trees, a vegie garden and an adorable dog, and the grounds look almost like a park. They are well established, so work is usually maintenance of home and garden. Annette is from Germany and works part time as a GP. We have tenants and family going in and out, and I love company and good travel stories. However I am also often busy, so WWOOFers need to be able to be self contained unless they have own transport, or a happy to walk to Mullum and catch the bus to Byron Bay or cycle to Brunswick Heads. Accommodation for 1-2 WWOOFers (prefer over 23 years old) is in own room with queen size bed. Diet is mostly vegetarian but occasional fish or meat. Prefer non-smokers. Mullumbimby is an Australian town in Byron Shire in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It promotes itself as "The Biggest Little Town in Australia". The town lies at the foot of Mount Chincogan in the Brunswick Valley about 9 kilometres by road from the coast. Papillon Last Active: active 3 weeks, 6 days ago City/Town: StawellViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: In Our Home, BYO AccommodationKate is a retired vigneron and consultant. I am creative - painting, mosaic work, music etc. I have very friendly dogs. I'm renovating and developing a garden and landscaping (including a pergola) at a large old house in Stawell, next to the Grampians. If you are a couple interested in helping with this for up to a week then let me know. Campervan friendly. The house is historic and there is often painting, simple repairs to the house and much work to be done in the garden depending on the time of year. There is also a cellar so I try to make preserves if I can be there to catch the fruit etc. So far I've planted nuts, various fruit, many herbs and borders for beneficial insects, birds and bees. Stawell is famous for it's gold history and the gold mine still operates. The country surrounding is wooded farm lands, the Grampians with their hiking and climbing and many other natural attractions. Stawell is also on the main road west to Adelaide so our stop really suits if you are driving around Australia. I'm not there all the time so I'm sorry if the timing doesn't suit but feel free to try if you're going to be in the area as the help would be awesome. Great for garden, landscaping and walks lovers. The Lakehouse Last Active: active 1 month ago City/Town: Fingal HeadViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: In Our HomeWe have a 3/4 acre property in a small town on the far north coast NSW. Graeme Athol Otway Last Active: active 1 month ago City/Town: Russell IslandViewFarming Methods: PermacultureAccommodation Type: In Our Home, BYO AccommodationHelp us to help others. I have a functional neurological disorder that impacts on my daily life with movement, day to day living, speech sometimes, chronic fatigue. Wanting to start a support group for others that are similar. We would like to set up a food forest and sensory garden right here on Russell Island. WWOOFers help us to maintain the property and to build and maintain fruit trees, raised garden beds, hugelkultur garden, lasagna-method garden beds for a wide range of fruit and vegetables grown in an organic way. Wayne and I are an outgoing couple that like to meet new people and learn from all cultures. We are both chefs by trade but have moved onto the island for a quiet sense of life. We both like to get into arts and crafts. We are both originally from New Zealand and have been living in Australia for ten years. Graeme likes to go fishing and all things outdoors even though he's got this disability, he doesn't let that limit his life. Wayne likes to get into music and he's more the indoor type. We're pretty easy going people and like to learn new things. At the moment we're building our house and living in a tiny home at the back. We don't mind couples Building experience and gardening experience is preferable but not exactly needed. You must be friendly, outgoing, willing to work five hours a morning in exchange for room and board. Please let us know if there is anything you'd like to know about our little island. Kangaroo Island lies off the mainland of South Australia, southwest of Adelaide. Over a third of the island is protected in nature reserves, home to native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and diverse bird species. In the west, Flinders Chase National Park is known for penguin colonies and striking coastal rock formations, like the sculpted Remarkable Rocks and the stalactite-covered Admirals Arch. My aim is to provide a relaxed and fun environment where company is more important than work; learn about landscaping, small gardening, minor building projects and use of tools in a workshop, and general chores. I'm a great cook and you will have a nice room to yourself with above average accommodation. I was an Airbnb Superhost but have stopped that since the virus as my health would be compromised. Outside your 4 hours minimum work, you can explore the bush, sit on the beach, talk to the locals, all the quiet, nice things to do. Bird sanctuary. About 330 people and 44 children on this island.
