“Millpost” is a 2700 acre wool growing property 30km east of Canberra. We have been implementing aspects of permaculture design since 1979. We mostly run merino sheep but also some poultry, house cows, sheep dogs, and cats. We grow much of our vegetables and have a nursery of trees for planting on the farm. Millpost is a beautiful part of the Southern Tablelands, with it’s rolling hills, Box woodlands, native grasslands and some great creeks and dams to swim in. We sit next to Kowen Forest, a popular destination for it’s mountain bike trails, river, history and Molonglo Gorge. Other attractions include our old lime kiln and aboriginal axe quarry. WWOOFers are included in all work on the farm and could be gardening, planting, working with sheep, fencing, building, whatever we are doing at the time.

Riverpines is a 20 year old organic vineyard in the Broke Forditch region of the Hunter Valley. Set up in the late 90's as a top shelf grape producer it has great bones. The new owners are working on a transition to a more integrated farming approach bringing in a variety of other produce and companion livestock. With a focus going forward on using biodynamic principles Riverpines is set for interesting times. Come and join us for a few days or move in for a while... Kind regards, Simon

Ours is an old-fashioned farm, mixed certified organic and biodynamic in conversion, set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow some vegetables (mainly for the household), berries and a mixed fruit and nut orchard, for our own use at this stage. Our animals are our main focus. They include a few Jersey cows, with their calves, a couple of beef steers for meat. And our fledgling herd of Galloways. We also have seven heritage breeding sows and three boars, and their offspring. They are sold direct to our beautiful organic butcher, Brisbane Organic Meats in Ormiston. So once every month we should have a new litter, so always babies here. Our latest acquisition is a small flock of Wiltipoll sheep, due to arrive very soon. In addition we have poultry, Pekin ducks for eggs and meat, a mixed flock of chickens that produce gorgeous eggs daily. Although we are cutting back on the ducks and changing our chicken flock out. Finally, we have 10 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away. Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a two- year-old Maremma, called Baci and an adorable young Smooth-Haired fox terrier, called Dennis and our newest baby, Molly, a cheeky Kooli x Smithfield puppy.

We are nestled on 100 acres of stunning bushland on Wonnarua Country, in the midst of the Watagan forest of the Lower Hunter Valley, 1.5 hours from Sydney and Newcastle. There is a wide variety of wildlife including lyrebirds, wallabies, echidnas and wombats, blue and fairy wrens, kookaburras, satin bower birds, black and sulphur crested cockatoos. We are growing tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchinis, mustard greens, rocket, kale, broccoli, carrots, beans (all types), herbs (all types), citrus, and many other fruits and vegetables. We are in the process of developing a master plan for our property, having moved here in August 2018. We are increasing the number of fruit and nut trees, are continually expanding the vegetable gardens, and enjoy fresh eggs with our 6 chickens and 2 roosters. The property is situated on the crest of a hill, with a beautiful area for camping and meandering in the valley by a natural brook, and another area at the top for workshops and retreats. Keith has a background in Ag Science and biotech start-ups (after a first career as a university professor); Brynnie has been growing not-for-profit organisations in the sustainability, health, maintaining Indigenous culture and social justice space (after a first career in international corporate law) and has studied Zen Shiatsu. Keith has lived in Germany and Brynnie is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese (having lived in Brazil) and gets by in French. Our children are in their mid-20s, having studied art history, philosophy and entrepreneurship, and environmental science, ecology and Spanish. We also have older children (via Keith) and seven grandchildren. We moved to this property in 2018 after having lived in Sydney for more than 25 years. 'Kawalang' means abundance in Wonnarua language. There is more about the property on our website.

The property is 300 acres situated just off the Bruce Hwy in Central Queensland. Most of it is bush although 20 acres is cleared and arable near the front of the property. It is 50km from the nearest township of Gin Gin. The beautiful discovery coast is about an hour away. I have been living here for almost 5 years and have started developing food forest plots and vegetable gardens. My grandson now lives with me so it is moving along a bit faster. Apart from a push lawn mower I do not have any mechanical help, it is all doing it the old fashioned way. This area of the Queensland coast has the best average temperatures of the eastern seaboard so most days outside of January and February are good for doing some work. I do not currently have a spare room for guests so at the moment I can only take in WWOOFers with their own van to sleep in.
