Because I told some friends who live in Mount Barker and are interested in implementing the integrated food production system that I needed a place to stay near them. Then, they told me that I could work and live in a host of WWOOF.

I love the outdoors and getting my hands dirty on something adventurous! I love to meet and learn from others and am always looking for an opportunity gather new ideas from the people I meet. Life is very short to be worried about the small things.

We are nestled on 100 acres of stunning bushland in the midst of the Wattagan forest of the Lower Hunter Valley, 1.5 hours from Sydney. There is a wide variety of wildlife including lyrebirds, wallabies, echidnas and wombats, blue and fairy wrens, kookaburras, satin bower birds, black and sulphur crested cockatoos.  We are growing tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchinis, mustard greens, rocket, kale, broccoli, carrots, beans (all types), herbs (all types), citrus, and many other fruits and vegetables. We are in the process of developing a master plan for our property, having moved here in August 2018. We will be increasing the number of fruit trees, are continually expanding the vegetable gardens, and enjoy fresh eggs with our 9 chickens and 2 roosters (father and son). The property is situated on the crest of a hill, with a beautiful area for camping and meandering in the valley by a natural brook, and another area at the top for workshops and retreats which we plan to establish or host. Keith has a background in ag science and biotech start-ups (after a first career as a university professor); Brynnie has been growing not-for-profit organisations in the sustainability, health, digital media with Indigenous communities, and social justice space (after a first career in international corporate law) and has studied Zen Shiatsu. Keith has lived in Germany and Brynnie is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese (having lived in Brazil) and gets by in French. Our children are in their early 20s, in university, and Keith also has older children and young grandchildren. We moved to this property in 2018 after having lived in Sydney for more than 25 years.

I'm really concerned about the way we live as a society and how we might be doing real damage to nature. I'd like to learn more about organic farming and the relation between society and nature in a practical way. WWOOF looks like a good way to do it while I can also meet new people and travel around the amazing country that is Australia.

Some of our friends tried Wwoof and shared many enriching experiences. We have joined Wwoof Australia because we believe it is a sustainable way to travel, connect with communities and like-minded people across the country, while still learning valuable life skills at the same time. We want to test our farm working skills to be close to nature and animals and, of course, to learn more about farm business. In addition, of course, to know a little more about the local Australian culture.

Since I had an idea of the concept of WWOOFing I had the desire to be part of it. However, I always had to delay this dream due Visas commitments and full time jobs. Now I finally have the opportunity to be part of this community. To learn and teach knowledge and share this unique experience with like-minded people around the world. I’m fascinated with plants and vegie gardens as I always liked to play with that. My diet now is completely plant based (flexible to be vegetarian due of what is available to eat), and I try to eat as much as organic I can. It would be a great pleasure to work on an environment that I can learn processes and techniques of organic farms and share with people with the same or similar mindset. I’m also very interested to learn and work with permaculture as I believe to be one the most sustainable ways to live our lives and in harmony with our planet.

We joined WWOOF for the opportunity to work in organic farms and to learn and live a farm way style of life. We are passionate about farm life. Julio grew up going to the farm every weekend and holidays, and Thais grew up in the middle of the Amazon. And now we feel like we need to learn about farming techniques before moving to our farm.

I want to renew my visa and because of the corona virus it is a little difficult to find a farm that you are hiring, so they indicated the wwoof. Voluntarily contributing to a role in order to improve or grow the environment, in addition to yourself, should be very rewarding.

A year ago a friend of mine introduced to me this project and said that his brother did it in Bolivia and loved it. Afterwards I informed myself online about it and since I knew I was comming to Australia WWOOFING was on my to-do-list. I joined WWOOF, because I want to feel the countrylife. WWOOF is a great opportunity to get in touch with people you would in a city never come in touch with. Since I was 13, my parents and I spend our summer holidays on a farm in the Alps in Italy. At that time I helped out in the cowshed or mowed the field with the farmer and somehow I put in my head to help out on the same farm in the summer, when I would be older. This has never happened, but I would now like to take the opportunity to make the childhood dream come true. From the WWOOFing I hope to get in touch with the hosts, feel the community spirit between the hosts and the other possible WWOOFER and have a nice evening after the work is done. Simply, I just want to have fun at work and that I remember this time for a long time.

I have joined WWOOF because, as mentioned before, sustainability is one of my greates passions. Perhaps this is wrong to say because what I really really love is nature. I am constantly in awe because of it. There is nothing I admire most in my life. I have the dream of one day have a community/self-sufficient sustainable and organic farm. There would no better way to increase my knowledge and interest in this issue than by WOOFing. And I cannot wait to meet more passionate and incredible people along the way. And learn hands-on? Nothing sounds more perfect.

I've been working as a landscape architect for almost 10 years in São Paulo and now I'm looking for a change in my work and life, trying to live in more connection with nature and its rythm. I think wwoofing can be a good opportunity for living the daily work and life in a organic Farm and learn by practicing and working with experienced people willing to teach and share their knowleadge...

I've done woofing before in New Zealand and was a great experience. I'm organising myself for a sabbatical time and would like to stay in a Wwoof for a couple months, learning and helping out.

To meet the locals, get to know a community, to meet like minded people. You don't really appreciate a place just camping in National Parks and caravan parks. Some of my best memories are from WWOOF'ing 🙂
