First, I would like to join WWOOF because it's easier to find a host and to share advices or experiences with them. Secondly, I hope to achieve by WWOOFing because it's very important for me to find and joined a farm because I share the same values : when I was young, I lived in the countryside with my parents and my two brothers and every year, I help my parents in the forest or in the garden. I loved nature and animals and I'm not afraid to a hard mission like picking up fruits or for others missions and always with the smile !

We decide to join WWOOF because we like to cook and to eat, we like to talk and to laught, we like to work and to learn ! To be a bit more exhaustive, we both want to live a real Aussie's experience by sharing a daily life with australian people. Then, ecology is a value that we share and which seems to be essential. Especially in view of the actual crisis. We would like to learn how to take care of a vegetable garden and to be able to create our own one day. Maybe build our own house as well (we also like to dream). Also, we like to meet new people and to enjoy daily life with them. Which is also a great opportunity to increase our english.

We have a 1 1/2 acres fruit farm just 15 minutes North of Byron Bay. We call ourselves the 20/20 farm as we have approx 20 mango trees, 20 banana trees, 20 citrus trees, 20 macadamia trees and a handful of a multitude of other fruit and nut trees. We do not use any sprays or chemicals in gardening and try to follow the principles of nature. Our land draws in many different native birds. People who visit us always say it is so peaceful hear and they never want to leave.

This will give me the opportunity to help those in need and also allow me to adjust to the transition to retirement and travel of course. I believe over our working lives we obtain many skills and knowledge and that these qualities will help us move on and we also need to keep using them as we get older. They can be of benefit to others. Having recently retired I’ve realised I need to be more active and I feel by helping through this organisation that I can achieve this .

WWOOF was recommended to us by a mutual friend. By working in agriculture and farming we hope to gain insights in the origins of our food and experience that differ from those that we know from Germany.

Last summer I was at a small wwoofing farm in Denmark, and this experience confirmed my sympathy for this form of travelling. You're right in the middle of the culture and the people, and on top of this you learn something about a subject, that gets (in my eyes) so important these days. And I am highly interested in it! I love to work with my hands, create something new, care for it, see after work what I have accomplished. And I prefer it, if it's something usefull. In my school I had lot of manuel classes, one of them was a gardening class, and a few years ago I was in South Africa and Costa Rica working in different projects in conservation and one in a kindergarden. So I am not completely new to the topic, but still very far away from getting somewhere. I would love to make a lot more wonderful experiences, get to know a lot more wonderful people, and later on, continue travelling with a lot more wonderful memories.

We want to meet locals and explore the farm life while we are doing useful work. We are supportive for local and organic farmers, so WWOOFing fits us perfectly! Another reason is that we don't only want to see the city life an touristic side of Australia but we love to experience the family and farm life as well. We are looking forward to meet new people and gain lots of new experiences.

I've been working as a landscape architect for almost 10 years in São Paulo and now I'm looking for a change in my work and life, trying to live in more connection with nature and its rythm. I think wwoofing can be a good opportunity for living the daily work and life in a organic Farm and learn by practicing and working with experienced people willing to teach and share their knowleadge...
