I'm turning my life towards a healthier path as I don't drink or smoke anymore and trying to be vegetarian. So learning about the farm lifestyle and and knowing what I could achieve learning from the hosts itself is exciting for me and a great place to start. I'd also like to have my own farm one day. That'll be ideal.

I have come to WWOOF in hopes to engage directly with positive ecology; an interest that is not limited to one form of practice. Through engagement with prominent and emerging farming practices, I hope to discover more techniques and strategies which may bring them together. I hope to find ways of balancing cash crop seasons with cover crops and rotational grazing. I hope to find ways of practising agroforestry with high biodiversity. I wish to learn about all aspects of farming; from the hunter-gather and permaculture skills from which we began, to the organic bio-dynamic agroforests to which we will go.

I joined WWOOF because I think it's a good way to get much new experiences, getting connected to people, learn a lot about Australia and hopefully about myself. It is great to help people with some work and get accommodation and food. And to be honest it´s nice if you have not that much money to travel.

In February I will graduate and in March I will move to Australia. It has been a dream for too many years and at the end I decided to book a one-way ticket to Perth. I will stay there for a year ( I hope) and would like to live as many new experiences as possible. The only thing I know is that I want to live my life to the utmost and do not want to have any regrets. Since the moment I realized that, I decided I wanted a brand-new start, so here I am!

We decided to join WWOOF as a means for contributing towards the lives and livlihoods of farmers in rural communities. We are in a unique position where we can offer our time and skills and thereby hopefully instil a deeper love and respect for our country and its diverse environment in the hearts and hands of our sons.

City/Town: Tamworth
Farming Methods: Biodynamic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
Our farm is located 33km west of Tamworth NSW, on 460 acres. It is a beautiful part of NSW, a few hours inland from the coast and about 5 hours north of Sydney, 7 hours south of Brisbane. We live at the end of a dirt road on the top of a hill with no neighbours in site, this really is “country Australia!”. We breed horses and farm beef cattle. Our focus is on regenerative agriculture - using sustainable farming practises to improve and regenerate soils and the environment, and enhance productivity. We have owned our farm for 8 years and are building new infrastructure to improve it, including fencing and water troughs. We have around 30 horses at most times with several foals born each year. We breed quarter horses, that we then break in and train for the western sport of “cutting”, which involves working cows. You can check out our Facebook page Three Leaf Stud to see more about our horses. Rafe competes in cutting and reined cow horse when he has time, and I compete in the English disciplines of Eventing, show jumping, and dressage. So we have a range of horses, not just quarter horses, also thoroughbreds and warmbloods. Depending on the time of year, you may experience foaling season, starting horses under saddle, or horse shows. If you are a competent rider you may have the chance to ride regularly,  however this can’t be guaranteed until we see your skills in practice! A typical day here involves feeding and checking all the horses twice a day, checking water troughs and fence lines, and feeding cattle. We operate a hydroponic fodder factory sprouting barley seeds for our cattle, so seeding this, cleaning it and feeding out the fodder is a daily process. We ride most days and then the tasks vary from day to day, sometimes it’s fencing, or helping build something, fixing something, gardening, every day is different! Our house is quite modern and air conditioned, you will have your own room in our house with a beautiful view and bathroom, WiFi. We expect you to be clean and tidy and to help with things like doing the dishes, we cook and eat a mixed diet with meat and vegetables... and chocolate. We are both 40, no kids, friendly labrador called BenDog and a cool stable cat called BobCat. We treat people as we expect to be treated, and believe that in life, you get back what you put in!

I joined Wwoof because I like to try out new things. I am very excited to meet locals and to see what the australian farmlife is like. I love being outside in general and i would be very happy to be directly in the australian nature. I also want to learn some farmwork, because that is where all the food in the supermarket comes from.

Beautiful 300 acre farm which we run wool sheep, alpaca, house cows, horses, chickens and bees. Although we've been farming all our lives, we've only been on this farm for a few years so we are still setting up. In addition to looking after the farm and animals we are growing vegetables and setting up an orchard.  We love our farming lifestyle and are always looking to enjoy and improve our farm.  Its great having people come and enjoy the farm with us and join in the lifestyle. We are keen to explore ideas such as care farming and social enterprises. We have a nice new self contained donger set up with kitchen, toilet, bathroom, aircon for you to stay in or your welcome to bring your own caravan etc.
