Beautiful 300 acre farm which we run wool sheep, alpaca, house cows, horses, chickens and bees. Although we've been farming all our lives, we've only been on this farm for a few years so we are still setting up. In addition to looking after the farm and animals we are growing vegetables and setting up an orchard.  We love our farming lifestyle and are always looking to enjoy and improve our farm. Its great having people come and enjoy the farm with us and join in the lifestyle. We are keen to explore ideas such as care farming and social enterprises. We have a nice new self contained donger set up with kitchen, toilet, bathroom, aircon for you to stay in or you're welcome to bring your own caravan etc. We will be starting our lambing season soon and it would be great to have some help checking and helping the ewes and any lambs that need it. We are also really keen to plant more trees on the farm. We have some seed and the will and just need help with getting things happening this autumn and winter so they have a good chance.

I started doing a horticulture course online a few years back and just didn't commit to it. I thought maybe it wasn't the course for me but it turns out it's just not my style of learning. I don't enjoy sitting and staring at screens. That's a big part of wanting to be outside in the elements. So now I'm doing a permaculture course at Crystal Waters on the Sunny Coast next month (AUG 2021). I hope that will get me started along this journey as I have very limited knowledge on the whole thing as yet. When telling a friend about the course they mentioned WWOOFing and I figured that this would be a fantastic way to exchange my labour for education.

I joined WWOOF to learn both sustainable farming practices and to get a glimpse at how other Queenslanders live. I'm travelling and figured that getting my hands dirty would be the best way to gain new experiences and to extend my stay in a new places. I'm hoping to get a 'slice of life' from around our state.

I’m wanting to get out and meet new people and learn new things. I’m interested in learning more about natural building, organic farming, anything to do with plants/ food how to grow, look after and harvest. I’d like to gain life skills doing things in a sustainable way that cares for the planet. I’d like to be a part of a community that works together, shares ideas and grows as one while interfacing with natural environment. Hoping that by joining WWOOF I'll be able to meet some like minded people and find connections.

My work and studies shed an insight into why I want to start WWOOFing. I am passionate about sustainable resource management and agriculture but have spent most of my career at a desk. I am itching to get outdoors and gain some practical skills and experience on the land. I grew up in the Hunter Valley and have fond memories of riding quad bikes, milking cows, and collecting eggs on friends' farms. I've had a bit of experience in tree planting, floral data collection and habitat assessments through my degree.

I think WWOOF is a good way to make yourself useful and get to know about permaculture, local life, people and the country at the same time. I got very much interested into permaculture during my first WWOOF stay and I would be happy to start my own veggie/fruit garden when I get back home. I love being surrounded by natural wide spaces. It's a precious source of inspiration for me.
