We have residential homes on two sides, a couple of similar acreages on one side and bushland on the other. We have many native animals on the property, including Wallabies, Cockatoos, various reptiles and numerous other bird species. We also have two Horses - one of which is an outstanding riding Horse (Australian Stock Horse) and can be ridden by WWOOFers who demonstrate competence. Our Horses also supply considerable levels of natural fertiliser which can be used as appropriate. We aspire to being truly Biodynamic. We look across bushland and ridges to the ocean and are situated about 15 minutes drive from the surfing beaches of Sydney's Northern Beaches. We have a bus stop almost at our front gate and a club, pub, shops and restaurants 500 metres away. We have in the past grown a variety of fruit and vegetables but currently only growing some Aloe Vera for personal use and a few mature olive trees. I would like to regenerate the property and renew the vegetable garden in the interests of good health as I live a supplement free life where I get all my nutrition through food only sources and I am endeavouring to have my Children adopt the same lifestyle. We have a large modern home - the WWOOFer who stays with us will have their own large comfortable bedroom and ensuite bathroom. For our trip we want to have a good mix of working and enjoying the Australian countryside - especially meeting new people from all around the world and lean more about the Australian culture. We hope to be a great helping hand in your business! Pucker Farm Animal Sanctuary Last Active: Active 1 month, 1 week ago City/Town: KondininViewFarming Methods: Regenerative AgricultureAccommodation Type: In Our Home, Caravan, Tent, BYO AccommodationPucker Farm Animal Sanctuary is 5min from town, with great vistas extending out to Kondinin Salt Lake, and 30min from Wave Rock. The Sanctuary has a variety of animals including sheep, a goat, chickens, ducks, horses, donkeys, a pig, maremma guardian dogs, a cat & dexter cows (60 creatures in total). Your farm experience here will be more aligned with the pioneering days than with the high-tech world of farming today. Volunteering will include a variety of tasks such as feeding animals, mucking out, pruning trees, mowing, raking & fencing. You will be treated well, eating healthy vegetarian meals, & I'll make sure your stay is comfortable & enjoyable. Accommodation for 10 within my home, caravan, tent, or BYO. Shared meals, vegetarian only. Children b.a. No smoking near house. Length of stay neg after first few days. The bus runs a few times a week from Perth/Esperance. I work at the Wildlife Park in Hyden one day a week and if everyone is in agreement WWOOFers could come there for the day to volunteer. I really enjoyed it. I volunteered in a NGO called Hohepa where I was working with disable people and I learnt a lot. I’ve been working in basically everything since I arrived in Australia so I think it’s time to make a bit of a change for me 🙂 I’m looking forward to learnt new things and have a more meaningful experience over here. Caitlin Tacey Last Active: Active 4 months, 2 weeks ago Age: 21-25ViewGender: FemaleSkills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Propagating, Soil conservation, Beekeeping, Worm farming, Building, Natural building methodsAfter 4 years of studying am very eager to get out of the city and away from theoretical concepts and into the natural world with real people working hard to solve issues around food production. I cannot wait to have my hands in the soil rather than typing away on a laptop all day. Through WWOOFing I hope to gain an understanding of the real life practise of organic farming. Given I grew up in Victoria, I am not so much interested in a cultural exchange or spending time doing 'touristy' things but rather working and learning from growers and farmers. I do hope to one day own my own land and have my own kitchen garden and so (rather selfishly) also hope to learn a few tricks of the trade for my own food production. I currently have leafy greens growing out of planter boxes in my tiny garden out the front of my unit in the city and it ain't cutting it!
