I love manual work and being about in the dirt and sun - mostly I enjoy the socail aspect that comes along with a woofing relationship, my favourite kind of work life balance. Sundari Last Active: Active 2 weeks, 2 days ago City/Town: NuminbahViewFarming Methods: PermacultureAccommodation Type: Separate Building, Tent, BYO AccommodationI've been working. with permaculture professionally all over the world, and have just returned this year after 31 years living overseas (mostly India and various parts of Europe). Having designed for so many others, finally it's time again to design our own place (my wife Francesca is an Italian agronomist), and build another house (the old one is in the rainforest we planted and in need of restoration as a guest house. We're planting an extensive food forest of hugely diverse species, to add to what remains of the original forest garden, as well as extensive vegetable gardens for our own kitchen, for friends and guests. This whole land, shared with two others, is a remarkable arboretum of mainly Australian rainforest species, and there are kilometres of footpaths all over the land, giving access to most of the most beautiful parts of it. One boundary is over a kilometre of stunning rainforest creek, there is a large pond on the land, and the views of the world heritage national parks and caldera of the ancient volcano are spectacular. We eat very well, having an international cooking capacity; we are not extreme, but cook only vegetarian food generally. Currently I'm beginning to design and implement a beautiful large (185acre) nearby property, focusing on functional integration of water management, cabinet and structural timbers, rotational grazing, food forest, small cropping and biodiversity. This is a long-term project. My children are all adults now and I would love the opportunity to learn more about things like natural and/or any building techniques. I would also like to learn more about growing/cultivation of crops in different climates. And to be around like minded people who work with the earth in a sustainable and practical manner. I have a dream to plant a food forest in my hometown of Gandhinagar in India. I wish to teach farmers in my locality about how to thrive in the abundance of mother nature without damaging her. I must admit that I have little to no experience in working on a farm and the only plants I have grown are a tomato and a basil plant but I can see so many more learning opportunities and so many more plants to be grown in my future that it excites me just thinking about the possibilities. I would like to have my own farm/off-grid property some day so it would be a great learning experience for me. I am also hoping to find more peace and a quiet space where I can meditate and be connected to the land. In turn, hopefully I can spread this peace to others and contribute in any way I can. We both are looking forward to have some hands on experience on how to grow vegetables and fruits. We used to spend time at Warners Bay Community Garden and Lake Macquarie Landcare. Overall, we would like to experience farm life, interact with farmers and learn farm work from people who feed the masses. We would also like to learn/share our experiences and expertise with Farmer friends. 🙂 Akshobhya Yalamanchali Last Active: Active 10 months, 3 weeks ago Age: 26-35ViewGender: MaleSkills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Gardening, Pruning, Propagating, Composting, Soil conservation, Mulching, Animal Care, Beekeeping, Worm farming, Fencing, Building, Using and caring for tools, Handyman, Mechanical, Dairy, Cheese making, Wild food foraging, Fermenting food, Bread Making, Marketing produceI have no experience in farming and I don't come from a farming background family.
