I joined WWOOF because I would like to meet new people and experiences the real Australia. I would like to see more of Australia than just hostels and meet people except other German backpackers. I love the live on a farm and I grew up in a small town in Germany. That’s my I would love to work on a real Australian farm and find out about all the adventures on a farm. I would love to experience the real farm life with all the advantages and disadvantages. Additionally I want to meet the an know the real Australian people. Furthermore I really want to do something good for the environment and support organic farms with my work. Maybe my effort can help to make I small different and help the people who live on the farm.

We want to learn about this country's culture, and wwoofing is one of the best way to do so by working with passionate people and with the opportunity to travel around the country. To be honest, we don't have any experience on working in a farm, but we are eager to learn and ready to improve. Our english isn't the best, so we wish to improve it by talking with people.

The first big interest of working in wwoofing is to meet good people willing to share with us some time and knowledge. As we both are nature and animals lovers we have turned to wwoofing as it seems to be a fair way to spend time in Australia

I joined WWOOF because I hope I can find people who share the same values than me. I want to learn about farming in a respectful way for the environment and ourselves. I also want to help as much as I can. I have done some couchsurfing for a few years and believe that WWOOFing is something similar but in a farming way. I can't wait to find out about it!

We want to get our hands dirty and meet some Aussies! We really wanted to live with Australians instead of just travelling as normal tourists Mikkel was in Australia three years ago in Sydney and Brisbane, but really wanted to come back. Anders has wwoofed a lot in New Zealand and had some great experiences. We think it is a great way to meet people and see what the communities are like.

As far as I can remember, I have always wanted to go on an adventure and have always been afraid to take the plunge. As if I told me that I first need to have a 'concrete' professionnal situation in Switzerland before venturing myself abroad. That and other things, I guess! Now that I'm nearly 40, I realize that I have assimilated a lot of professional experiences without finding the good one. And as I was giving up a teacher’s study programm newly begun, I felt a great need to get closer to nature. Taking a step back from my life and getting closer to more basic aspects of life itself in the same time. It’s now or never ! I said to myself. Precisely because I have no 'concrete' situation, paradoxically. And no child nor constraints preventing me from taking off. The idea of wwoofing imposed itself quickly. By providing a reassuring context to my journey (versus backpacking alone for 2 or 3 month) and giving it a strong meaning: participating in various useful activities on organic farms and really meeting some inhabitants of the area (I’m sure that staying and working somewhere for a while is the best way to do it and to experience other cultures and ways of life). Moreover, given the good reputation of Aussies and my desire to learn English, my interest in Australian wild life (so crazy and fascinating!) and the fact that it's summer at this period of the year (without speaking about the incredible opportunity of being 'upside down' and spending Christmas in t-shirt), I didn’t need much time to choose my destination.

I joined WWOOF for two main reasons. First, in my study of environmental science and climate change, I've realized how large a role agriculture plays in carbon emissions, especially through land use changes, in a way that is often overlooked. Given the time I have, I wanted to experience a more in depth perspective into the agricultural industry. Second, I spent half of my 3rd year of high school at a selective semester program on a farm in Vermont (the Mountain School), and really loved the experience. I was able to better understand the context of my food and the implications of the food choices I make.

I joined this platform because I feel wwoofing really reflects the spirit of a Working Holiday Visa and what I want to discover in my trip. It is part hard working and part relaxing while discovering Australian landscapes, people and way of life. I want to help people in the best way I can while learning new skills and more about them and myself.

I am currently staying on an off grid property in Yessabah, NSW and wanting to travel further up while learning lots and meeting likeminded people along the way! My intention is to get as close as I can to the Daintree <3 I have a strong desire to further my and learn new knowledge and skills in whatever way that I can. I’m a very hard worker, I’m up for anything, I’ll give anything my best shot and always will push myself to do the best job I possibly can. My happy place is in amongst nature, I love exploring new places and learning more and more about the earth that we all co exist on. I always knew that I would wwoof to travel as it has always been an option for me growing up around plenty of wwoofers and hearing their stories. Now the time has come that I can’t keep my insatiable appetite for adventure at bay!
