Ours is an old-fashioned farm, mixed certified organic and biodynamic in conversion, set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow some vegetables (mainly for the household), berries and a mixed fruit and nut orchard, for our own use at this stage. Our animals are our main focus. They include a few Jersey cows, with their calves, a couple of beef steers for meat. And our fledgling herd of Galloways. We also have seven heritage breeding sows and three boars, and their offspring. They are sold direct to our beautiful organic butcher, Brisbane Organic Meats in Ormiston. So once every month we should have a new litter, so always babies here. Our latest acquisition is a small flock of Wiltipoll sheep, due to arrive very soon. In addition we have poultry, Pekin ducks for eggs and meat, a mixed flock of chickens that produce gorgeous eggs daily. Although we are cutting back on the ducks and changing our chicken flock out. Finally, we have 10 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away. Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a two- year-old Maremma, called Baci and an adorable young Smooth-Haired fox terrier, called Dennis and our newest baby, Molly, a cheeky Kooli x Smithfield puppy.
