We joined in hopes of finding a community of like minded people, a place to grow and heal and dance and laugh and build soil! ...And maybe a place to build our home - using natural building techniques and some of the earthship design principles.  

Situated on 150 hectares of bush and pasture, bordered by the pristine Brodrib river, great swimming and fishing. We have a large fully equipped workshop for metal and woodworking. We have a tennis court and a croquet lawn. We grow our own vegetables, milk cows to make butter, cheese and yoghurt. We run 65 sheep and 4 cows, and we also have a wombat and kangaroo orphanage on the property as well. We have a small quarry we’re we make our own mud bricks to build our houses. Small established mixed permaculture farm, nestled in the wet, but recently burnt, forest wilderness of East Gippsland. Beautiful location with mountain river running through the property. Hope Seed Farm is now 18 years old, operates primarily within the gift economy and aims to be subsistence based. Production is diverse, 350 fruit trees, 150 nut trees, truffle oak trees, vegetable and herbs, nursery, bees, goats, poultry and cows. Animal handling uses very ethical principles. Totally off grid, solar etc. Separate accommodation, can easily provide all diets of vegan, vegetarian etc. Effectively organic non certified, no chemical use for more than 30 years on the property. Regenerative practices, carbon farming and re-vegetation of rain-forest along the river.

Small picturesque farm of 15 acres on rich river flats surrounded by forests & mountains. The Snowy National Park is to the west, the Errinundra NP to the east while the Brodribb wilderness feeds the river in between at Goongerah, a small settlement of about 35 people. This eco-friendly, mixed farm is shared by chooks, geese, milking goats, Clydesdales, wildlife, a dog,  guinea fowl, guinea pigs and an infamous environmentalist. The fully-netted orchard, booming vegie/flower/herb garden and animals provide most food needs, with food preserving a major part of autumn work. Self-sufficient in fruit, veg, milk, eggs (still working on chocolate and Vegemite). Solar panels power the slab-log home and a water wheel pumps from the Brodribb River. A wood stove provides heating, hot water and meals. Comfy room for guests. I have written for 'Earth Garden' magazine for about 30 years so visitors can see many of these practical ideas in action.
