I joined WWOOF to gain hands on experience on how farms operate, especially the ones with livestock involved. Studying science, my goal is to become a vet. So I wish to learn more about the agricultural industry and livestock production in Australia. I also wanted to try living in regional areas to see if it suits me, because Im going to spend a lot of time in these areas if I were to study vet science.

We want to be part and join this project because we have been wanting to get to know Australia from a more authentic point of view for some time, not being just tourists, but part of the Australian culture. We also believe that it is a nice opportunity to get out of our comfort zone and lend a hand in different fields, being ecological or sustainable agriculture topics of great interest to us.

City/Town: Inverloch
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
We have a beautiful 40 acre horse agistment property, veggie garden & fruit trees and approx. 5 acres bush. 3 min drive to surf beach, bay beach & Inverloch town or 10 min drive to Wonthaggi, a larger town. Push bikes available. We are very interested in living a sustainable lifestyle and hope that our WWOOFers are also interested in living sustainably and learning, and sharing knowledge of this. There are almost always wallabies at our farm and if you are lucky you may see kangaroos, echidnas, wombats & occasional koalas. Volunteering may include harvesting, food collection, composting, mulching, hay carting, weeding, fencing, planting, food preservation.  Sometimes there is some work caring for horses: often all the work is in the garden and paddock maintenance, as the horses are mainly looked after by their owners. Accommodation for up to 3 in our home, although we usually prefer 2. Shared meals, cook together. We eat a healthy, sustainable diet.  Bron is vegan and while Ray eats most foods, many meals are vegan or vegetarian.  Vegetarians & vegans catered for.  No children, no smoking, all stays negotiable on application. Please let us know your available dates when you apply and the length of time that you would like to WWOOF here. (1 to 2 weeks preferred).

City/Town: Yapeen
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building, Caravan
We live on a 5 acre rural block in Yapeen, Central Victoria. Yapeen is a great mix of quiet countryside within easy access to the historic goldfields and artistic hub of Castlemaine. We are owner builders and in the process of finishing a unique, off grid house. Our block has a diversity of native grasses, some large remnant trees, an abundance of reptiles and birds, resident frogs and visiting kangaroos. We have lots of plans and are in need of extra hands to get things done, but also keen for good company and to learn from and teach others. We need help with maintaining and improving the biodiversity on the block (weeding, native plant propagation, planting and watering revegetation patches and making wildlife habitat such as nesting boxes), house/shed building, animal fencing and gardening - we have an orchard and a large vegetable garden. We use organic methods only and implement permaculture concepts whenever possible. Activities you can do in your time off include bush walks, bird watching, visiting waterholes - we are close proximity to a natural swimming hole at Vaughan Springs. We have a spa/plunge pool available in the summer and a pleasant outside area for relaxing. WWOOFers will stay in a caravan or cabin with the use of our house for meals and bathroom facilities. We prefer to cook and eat together and are keen to experience cuisine from other cultures. We have a 6 month old baby and an enthusiastic 4 year old and would welcome others with small children.

I am wanting a tree change. Tired of the city life. I also want to see some of this great country and give back to the backbone of this country. My plan is to have no fixed address for awhile. I have had a desire to work on farms for a long time and now is the time to make that move. I want to learn a whole lot of new skills and put those skills to use by helping out our farmers. I want to develop my skills so I can farm sit, part time caretaker etc. I like Rural Aid’s Farm Army and Farm Rescues, I would love to assist more I'm looking to meet so many interesting and fabulous people and Wwoofing seem like a great way to do that. I'm wanting life to not be predictable and not the same #%*! different day kina of thing. I want new people, new landscape, new horizons, new challenges

Ok I would say see above. But as a sum up the concept of helping each other out, the host with accommodation and sharing their knowledge and way of doing things and the WWOOFer with their enthusiasm, hours of work and willingness to learn, participate and engage in the person/family's life as an immersive experience, to have hosts and WWOOFers grow together within the pursuit of a similar goal.

Riverpines is a 20 year old organic vineyard in the Broke Forditch region of the Hunter Valley. Set up in the late 90's as a top shelf grape producer it has great bones. The new owners are working on a transition to a more integrated farming approach bringing in a variety of other produce and companion livestock. With a focus going forward on using biodynamic principles Riverpines is set for interesting times. Come and join us for a few days or move in for a while... Kind regards, Simon

It was always clear for us to take a gap year after school and before studying. After some research we´ve discovered WWOOF! It´s an unique way to discover Australia from an inside perspective – always in contact with locals. Additionally, we want to improve our English skills, meet new people and explore a new way of living in an interesting culture which is very different to the German one. Nowadays the majority of groceries are treated with pesticides and genetic engineering. So it´s very important for us to support organic methods. In general, we´re interested in learning about your working methods and achieving new skills. Especially working on farms makes it possible to stay active in nature. We both are pet owners so we enjoy spending time with animals and taking care of them. Furthermore we hope we´ll develop ourselves in new situations, far away from home, and collect memories that will stay in our head forever!

Of course I’m WWOOFing to travel and see the world but what I’m really looking for out of this experience is to connect to nature and get some headspace, to learn new skills, to get my hands dirty, and to come away with more knowledge about the earth and it’s creatures, including myself. I’m really excited about learning all about organic farming in every way it’s practiced. I have very far off goals of someday having my own little spot of land, even if that’s just a big vegetable garden in a backyard, and am really passionate about sustainable practices and giving back to earth as well as only taking what is absolutely needed.

I have heard from friends and strangers alike what an amazing time they've had in their WWOOFing experiences and wanted an immersive and cheap way to travel & also learn about farming!

We would love to the chance to spend time enjoying a beautiful natural place and learn from hosts who are eager to share their knowledge. We are especially interested in staying with hosts who work closely with volunteers and are eager to get to know and learn from their WWOOFers as well. Some things we are interested in learning more about from hosts are small scale farming, animal care, cooking, how things are related in local ecosystems, indigenous culture, music/art. We are also drawn to spending time in Australia due to our shared heritages and are looking forward to having the opportunity to get to know more about our cultural background and the place where our parents are from.

City/Town: Chidlow
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
We live 45 km from Perth, 20mn walking distance from the Chidlow Post Office, the bus stop, forests & lake Leschenaultia. In the last 20 + years, we have  developed our hobby farm: built a solar-passive straw-bale home, established an extensive garden  as well as grown three children, home-schooled with the help of WWOOFers!!! They are now young adults, two of which still live at home. With our daughters, we grow vegetables, flowers, herbs & fruit trees. We have 3 cows and a calf, 6 goats, 2 sheep, lots of chickens, an old pony, 4 bee hives & lots of visiting birds. Work includes general hobby-farming activities such as gardening, and maintenance jobs, with occasionally some more skillful work such as rock wall building, shelter building or else, checking bees/ extracting honey etc... Accommodation is in annex for 1 – 2 non-smoking WWOOFers. We cook only vegetarian meals, mostly organic, shared with the family, although we can accommodate vegan and gluten free diets. We also speak French at home, we love playing traditional folk music, classical or old 60's songs, singing, bush-walking, we're also interested in art & craft, travel, health, spirituality and philosophy, fun, and good food. Most hot days, we'll end at the lake for a cool down swim!

The reason why I joined WWOOF is that when I worked at a nursery school, I realized and was embarrassed that I didn’t know how to grow food and producers passion in teaching children food education. l think WWOOF is a great way to learn these things. In addition, I’m interested in culture, lifestyle or work style of different countries, so I’d like to have an opportunity to stay with multicultural people and encounter a new set of values through experience of  WWOOF. And also I’d like to learn about permaculture to put into practice it in the future.
