Nutshell Farm Last Active: Active 6 hours, 43 minutes ago City/Town: Peacock CreekViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: In Our HomeOur farm is a mixed cropping, and grazing property set in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Richmond ranges National Park. We grow ginger, turmeric and garlic, along with vegetables, berries and a mixed fruit and nut orchard. Our animals include a small Jersey dairy herd, a beef cow and five steers for meat. We also have five heritage breeding sows and two boars, and a few boys and girls destined for pork eventually and currently we have 14 piglets of various ages. In addition we have poultry, Pekin ducks for eggs and meat, a mixed flock of about 30 chickens that produce gorgeous eggs daily. Finally, we have 19 guinea fowl, noisy, messy and often down-right annoying, but they eat ticks and keep snakes away. Other animals, we have two beautiful ginger cats for vermin control, mainly in the sheds, and a beautiful, loveable and majestic livestock guardian dog, a two- year-old Maremma, called Baci and an adorable Dixie puppy, called Dennis. Tired of the city life. I also want to see some of this great country and give back to the backbone of this country. My plan is to have no fixed address for awhile. I have had a desire to work on farms for a long time and now is the time to make that move. I want to learn a whole lot of new skills and put those skills to use by helping out our farmers. I'm looking to meet so many interesting and fabulous people and Wwoofing seem like a great way to do that. I'm wanting life to not be predictable and not the same #%*! different day kina of thing. I want new people, new landscape, new horizons, new challenges Troytopia Last Active: Active 9 hours, 44 minutes ago City/Town: Sutton GrangeViewFarming Methods: PermacultureAccommodation Type: Separate BuildingMy property is on off-grid, nature friendly honest place. I am in the early stages of establishing a self sustaining native animal breeding facility which is nestled in extensively landscaped native gardens which I share with; 1 dog, 5 chickens, 2 guinea fowl, 2 emus, 4 geese, and five sugar gliders. I am in the process of using permacultural principals to expand my breeding capacity and the associated habitat development. The property is only 3 acres and situated in rural central Victoria about 90 mins from Melbourne. Large vegetable garden, orchard, herbs, flowers, hothouse, geese, beekeeping with natural warre beehives, solar, sustainable building projects & maintenance, artistic projects & a magical rescue greyhound dog. Good place to learn about Bio-dynamics. Seasonal & joyful work: gardening, harvesting, preserving, fermenting, artistic projects, building and home maintenance. Longer stays after initial stay. 2 min walk into beautiful town & walks by the river that has platypus. I think the best qualification you can learn as a gardener is how to listen, attuning to your environment, taking time. What is the earth, this flower, this piece of soil telling me? & how can I respond to care for this earth/nature/creature from that listening. I'm passionate about nature & our environment & keep learning how to live more simply on this earth. I love my work with arts, creativity, dance & meditation, inspiring people to live well & live their best lives. Happy to host WWOOFers who are working or studying remotely, I like long term WWOOFers so if you are looking for a home in a beautiful community & some work alongside your work or study, please be in contact. I prefer initial contact via message/email. Since then, I have learnt so much about the world, the Earth and myself. There is also a certain sense of adventure that comes with WWOOFing, with unexpected changes in plans, deep connections and the Universe always presenting me with new lessons to learn. Plus, everything I learn while WWOOfing is directly related to my uni degree, so thats an added bonus! Previously a very productive organic certified garlic and ginger farm for many years. The farm changed hands and production was scaled back dramatically eventually ceasing in 2017 just before the current owners purchased it. We (the current owners) are in the process of returning our home to its former glory including production of garlic, ginger, turmeric, fruit, vegetables and animals using biodynamic and permaculture practices. Our aim will be to offer a full paddock to plate experience and an exciting opportunity to be part of our family during your stay! We have recently opened on our property an organic sourdough micro bakery. If interested you will have the opportunity to help with the running of the bakery too!!
