In February I will graduate and in March I will move to Australia. It has been a dream for too many years and at the end I decided to book a one-way ticket to Perth. I will stay there for a year ( I hope) and would like to live as many new experiences as possible. The only thing I know is that I want to live my life to the utmost and do not want to have any regrets. Since the moment I realized that, I decided I wanted a brand-new start, so here I am!

By Wwoofing I hope to meet people and learn a little about the life in the beautiful vast Australia! I don't want to be a tourist only and would love to make myself useful! Besides I love nature and would love to volunteer on a farm, animal shelter, workshop or any other. And especially after the horrific bush fires maybe some people could use some extra hands. I enjoy working with my hands and as an engineer I have a very practical approach.

I joined WWOOF because I think it's a step in the right direction. In these days we should live and consume sustained as possible. We injured mother nature too much and if we want to leave this planet so that other generations can live on it too, we must change our lifestyle. I hope that WWOOF and myself can be a part of this mission. I also want to learn more about sustainable and fair agriculture.

We are a  hobby farm on the Atherton Tablelands close to Lake Barrine. Most of the 160 acres are rainforest. We grow organic veg and fruit and have some livestock, horses, some sheep, goats, and poultry. I am a single mum with one 13-year-old son and grandma is also living with us. At the moment we are building a new house. The farm is secluded in a quiet rural setting.

Welcome to Athena's Garden. Although we are only 10 minutes to Townsville city centre we are making an oasis on our acre of land & already produce enough food to feed ourselves and any visitors... thanks to Anna’s gardening skills and our 2 chooks.

We moved to this Charles Reuben Estate vineyard in 2013. We also have tourist accommodation on the property. We have sheep, chooks & a dog as well as 4 children. Most of the work will be helping in the vineyard: pruning, clearing, fencing as well as general gardening work. There is a self contained room attached to the main house for WWOOFer accommodation with own bathroom, toilet and kettle/microwave facilities. Accommodating 1-2.

As for many, having a farm has always been a childhood-dream of mine. For a long time, that seemed very unrealistic because the way of working has changed so much in the last decades and it seems more likely that my job will be an office-job at a desk. Working as a WWOOFER seems like the perfect opportunity to do physical work and experience the life on a farm. I joined WWOOF to get into contact with many different people, learn about their lives and jobs and hopefully help them with their daily tasks. Learning about different types of farming in Australia is very interesting for me because Australia has different seasons than we do in Germany, making it a completely new experience not only because of the kind of work but also because of the circumstances. Additionally, talking in English all day will hopefully improve my language skills and extend my vocabulary.

Another point is When I live in a Australien family it is easier to learn something about the Australien people.

I joined WWOOF through Work & Travel Company. I’m interested in learning more about life and work on Australian farms. I´d love to obtain new skills like animal care, beekeeping, dairy, tool making and many more. Cultural exchange is a big reason for why I‘m traveling in general.
