City/Town: Halls Gap
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building
3hrs from Melbourne Airport I am a retired secondary school teacher and run a small BnB business and, having moved onsite recently, I am establishing the garden and maintaining the property. I keep bees, and wish soon to increase the number of hives I have. I have hosted many Couchsurfers in my own flat, but will provide more private accommodation with the help of WWOOFers ASAP. The property is within a short distance of the Halls Gap village, and is set adjacent to the very popular Grampians National Park, famous for its mountains, wildlife and hiking and climbing. There is usually abundant opportunity for additional work in local restaurants, etc., if desired.

I joined WWOOF because it gives me the opportunity to meet amazing people and to get to know a country way better than by staying in hostels. WWOOF provides me with once in a life time experiences.

City/Town: Goulburn
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
This farm attracts young outdoor people wishing to experience farm life in a back to basics farm environment. School groups, cub scouts, girl guides, as well as families come to Goulburn to stay in home made Yurts around a farm dam. They enjoy farm activities like milking the cow, riding a horse, making a fishing rod to go fishing and many farm skills. I need people to help with this program. WWOOFers usually delight in the Wide range of Experiences Gained from Living and Learning on this 1200 Acre Mixed Farm. The Original Working Farm is now a Tourist Farm as Well.

Farming Methods: Permaculture

We moved in to this 100 acre property, situated between Pemberton and Northcliffe in the South West of Western Australia, at the end of 2018. It is surrounded by stunning karri forrest and on the crossing of the Bibbulmun walking trail and the Munda Biddi cycling trail. We have a productive home orchard and veggie gardens, as well as ponds and a lake with marron, the largest freshwater crayfish in the world and pretty tasty. We have cows, sheep, chickens, and a couple of worm farms. Also a very energetic young pomeranian dog, Rupert. Plenty of water is also a bonus in this country. In addition to our rammed earth house, there are also 4 holiday cottages on the property. Most of the time, our helpers can stay in one of the cottages if it is not during busy holiday times or long weekends. Otherwise, they stay in our house in the spare room. We have spare bikes for our helpers, so that they can go and explore this beautiful area.

Projects include:

During the winter months, David is busy planting lots of trees, so you will be able to help create a lasting benefit for the future. There are trees for fodder, shelter, fruit and some for longer term timber resource.

We are experimenting with regenerative farming and improving the soil with growing a diverse mix of grasses and making and applying compost teas to increase the subsoil life. Other ongoing projects:

Constructing and maintaining permaculture gardens and orchards, picking berries and fruit. Planting native flowering plants for the bees, propagating and seeding vegetables.

Making compost and mulching the gardens.

Woodworking projects, ranging from making greenhouse to re-fitting kitchens in the cottages.

Chopping firewood and collecting kindling.

We want to meet locals and explore the farm life while we are doing useful work. We are supportive for local and organic farmers, so WWOOFing fits us perfectly! Another reason is that we don't only want to see the city life an touristic side of Australia but we love to experience the family and farm life as well. We are looking forward to meet new people and gain lots of new experiences.

I am Dutch, I hold a permanent resident visa and I have lived in WA for over 25 years. I've seen a few tourist destinations, but I would really like a different holiday experience, other then visiting a place. By volunteering my time, I can give a little bit back, while I gain new experiences. I'm interested in gardening in general, outdoor activities and environment stuff. I'd like to learn new skills, get a better insight how others live in rural Western Australia and meet like minded people with an alternative lifestyle.

City/Town: Cambooya
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
Mixed farm/market garden on 6 hectares of fertile soil on the edge of the Cambooya valley, just 17kms south of Toowoomba, Darling Downs, south east Queensland. We're a simple mom and pop operation, still building up from our modest beginnings as a bare paddock just 12 years back. Anton qualified through agricultural college in his homeland of the Netherlands and moved here at 21. Nicola taught school on and off for 33 years both here and in her native New Zealand. Our farm had its gestation in the cut flower growing business, but when we got together in our 40s, it became apparent that growing chemical sensitivities and growing awareness of ecological issues required a re-think as we went forward. We decided the whole smallholding should be organic and that we should not put all our eggs in one basket. Are you spotting the puns yet? In short, we have, thus far, developed 3 arms to the farm - vegetables, garlic and eggs. Flowers will undoubtedly return at some stage.

Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
We are on 20 acres of pasture and a beautiful rainforest gully which we are regenerating. We have horses, a miniature pony, chickens and a dog. We are 3 adults in the family. We have inherited permaculture features, plants and trees and want to do more. We are undertaking regenerative farming to improve the pasture and capture water. We are 15 minutes from the Sydney-Newcastle railway and back onto a native conservation area with many delightful bushwalks. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife. We have a spare, very comfortable double room in an annexe to a simple country house.

The property comprises 100 acres of pristine sand dunes and native bush overlooking Wauraltee Beach - excellent for swimming, walking, rowing, cycling & fishing in leisure time. The property also has kangaroos, wombats, birds, etc. We have obtained some advice from a nearby aboriginal community regarding native foods. The property has several thousand quandong trees. Quandong fruit sells for $70/kg and is prized for jams, tarts and as a superfood. Volunteering includes collection of fruit (seasonal), assistance with property maintenance such as fire protection near buildings, etc. Prefer WWOOFers to have their own vehicle to get to and from the property. Accommodation for 3 within our home. Shared meals, mixed diet. No children. No smoking on property. Initial stays 3-5 days, longer stays neg.

I joined WWOOF because, whilst I have learnt much from my parents, I want to learn more about sustainable gardening, and learn how other gardeners (particularly those with permaculture gardens) apply these principles. I will be in Sydney until September 2021- my Postgraduate study overseas was delayed due to Covid- and hope to learn as much as I can before heading to London!

I joined WWOOF as I am looking for a new experience, learn new things and hopefully have a look into the Australian life. As I dont want to use my 3rd WHV yet and dont want to go home now because of Covid, I’ll apply for a tourist-visa. As I have time enough but want to spend my time here usefully, I would like to do some voluntering to get new experiences and help you out with an extra set of hands.
