To go rural in my own backyard. Unfortunately, I won't have the chance to go on a rural placement as part of my degree so am looking to go rural and get some horse-y experience under my belt during one of my university breaks. I am especially interested in WWOOFing experiences that include horse care, mustering or other horse experience activities.

Hi we have a very quirky farmstay surrounded by installation art. with yurt and tipis. We are looking for a hardworking couple with some building experience. The hours are 9 to 4 with a 1 hour lunchbreak. 5 days a week. All weekends off. Duties will be to help with gardening maintenance, help build outbuildings using recycled materials. Assist with housework and general day to day duties. The type of people we are looking for will be very organised because I'm not (lol), will have very positive energy, willingness to work and a great imagination to come up with quirky achievable ideas. You will have your own accommodation in a glamp tent or tipi depending on availability, use shared bathroom in the house. With access to all amenities and 3 meals a day. You prepare your own lunch and breakfast and dinner is cooked by a world class chef. There are crazy animals and even crazier hosts. We believe if you have to work then why not do it with a dance and laugh. A day without laughter is a day wasted. We only die once so let's create good memories together! So come and leave some of your iimaginations at The Stix.

I joined WWOOF because I believe that all living things are interconnected - therefore I want to learn how to sustain our environment and live in harmony with each other. I am very interested in learning more about Permaculture and getting some hands on experience in an organic farm. I value supporting local farmers, so being an Australian exploring my own backyard, I want to help out in any way that I can. From my WWOOFing experiences, I hope to gain more knowledge and skills in Permaculture, growing organic produce and sustaining our earth, so I can be the change I want to see and share my learnings with others. I want to meet and make connections with incredible people by learning about their culture and their stories. Finally, I hope to gain more clarity on the direction of my next chapter and start putting some ideas into action.

I have no experience in farming and I don't come from a farming background family. Joined WWOOF to learn organic farming from experienced farmers hoping one day I can own a farm for myself and be a farm host on WWOOF to teach others.

We are looking for up to 2 people to help feed cattle and sheep, and a handyman that would like to do some building work such as fencing. We have 1000 acres of native vegetation, 4500 acres of grazing country for farming & bee keeping, with red undulating soil. Work on our farm includes sheep & cattle stock work, farm chores, fencing, organic gardening, milking cows, tending sheep, chickens & turkeys, pruning trees and whatever else needs doing. At the moment we have some baby lambs and calves that need to be fed and taken care of. If you are interested in learning something new and getting to know what life on an Australian Farm is like, you are more than welcome to stay with us. We love to get to know different people from other countries and are happy to teach you new skills. We hope that you will have an unforgettable and unique experience with us on our rural farm in the Australian outback. We generally prefer longer stays.

Belted Galloway cattle farm in the southern highlands. We milk these cows, too - they love to be patted. We also raise chickens for breeding and eggs, have a Permaculture veggie garden, and have just planted hazelnut trees. We are at our next stage of bushfire recovery having completed fencing and felling some trees. There are many tasks still to do even though it has rained and looks green. We need to expand the permaculture areas, constant weeding, pruning fruit trees, planting bare rooted vines and transplanting fruit trees. We also maintain a small wildlife reserve on part of the farm and look at grasses to make sure that the wombats we co-exist with have enough to eat. Volunteer tasks include feeding chickens, tending veggie garden, moving cattle to strip graze, milking cows (in non drought situations), weeding, collecting firewood, composting & worm farming. Accomodation for 2 within our home. Shared meals, all cook together. Mixed diet. Vegetarians & vegans catered for. Children b.a. No smoking on property. Initial stay 12-14 days. Longer stays negotiable.

Originally, I was inspired to start WWOOFing by my older sister, who spent months WWOOFing in the UK. Since then, I have learnt so much about the world, the Earth and myself. There is also a certain sense of adventure that comes with WWOOFing, with unexpected changes in plans, deep connections and the Universe always presenting me with new lessons to learn. Plus, everything I learn while WWOOfing is directly related to my uni degree, so thats an added bonus!

We used WWOOF Australia before and loved it. It is a great opportunity to meet locals, to get to know the culture and help out on beautiful farms. We both love animals and met between golden retriever puppies.

Last year I booked a one way ticket overseas, alas that dream did not come true so here I am following a different path with just as many cool options. I want to travel around to gain experience on the land, learn new skills and see different lifestyles and landscapes - I am pretty keen to see where this journey could lead. Some goals I have are to read more books, pat a lot of cows/work with animals and drive a tractor.

Frank and I have lived in Melbourne all our lives but we have decided for a tree change so we purchased a property in Willowmavin in December 2019. We are both in our early 50's. We are both working part-time with our Melbourne jobs and the rest of the time on the farm. We both work hard but try to find a work life balance which can be challenging. We are on 135 rolling acres with stunning views of Kilmore and Melbourne. We are situated 90 km from Melbourne, and 15 mins from Kilmore or Lancefield. We currently have 2 dorper sheep named Brucey and Bella, whom are very friendly and affectionate, 3 frizzle chickens named Vanilla, Chocolate and Caramel and 7 Indian runner ducks. We are also agisting some of our land and have 25 Angus cows. We started growing garlic immediately which was challenging as it was a huge learning curve. With every step of the process there are challenges but thanks to utube we are finding solutions. We have just harvested our garlic and getting our next garlic plots ready for this year’s planting. We have so many plans for this farm, but we just don’t have enough time to do it all ourselves. Some of the projects we dream of building are a Japanese onsen, a hobbit house and a pontoon. We also want to plant more trees on the property too. So many dreams, so little time 🙂
