We are located in the beautiful Yarra Valley just outside Melbourne, Australia.  The area is renowned for it’s wineries and natural features such as Mt Donna Buang, waterfalls and the meandering Yarra River.  We run a wildlife shelter, caring for small numbers of native wildlife.  Predominantly kangaroos and possums.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

Since we started Wwoofing, we have thoroughly enjoyed meeting people from all around the world.  We are a certified Wildlife Shelter that cares for predominantly kangaroos,  ringtail and brushtail possums.  We have a spare bedroom in our home which is the accomodation.   We are keen to increase our plantations of native plants on the property to support the wildlife. There’s alway fire prevention needed.  This involves mostly removing leaves and sticks from the property and mulching.  Volunteer times are flexible, we just ask for 25 hours per week.  This would usually work out to 5 hours a day, 5 days per week.

Organic/Biological methods we use

Running a wildlife shelter we work to protect the animals in our care. We plant approximately 500 native plants each year and are in the process of securing the fencing on the property
