I joined WWOOF after a close friend returned from a transformative experience WWOOFing in Ireland, sharing stories that resonated deeply with my own values and aspirations. Their journey reminded me of the three months I spent working in local clinics in Peru while living with a host family—an immersive cultural exchange that profoundly shaped my worldview and left me yearning for similar connections. As a clinical systems engineer with a background in genetics and conservation projects, I’m drawn to the beautiful intersection of scientific knowledge and traditional farming wisdom. My previous volunteer work on holistic farms and blueberry farms has given me glimpses of sustainable agricultural practices, but I’m eager to deepen this understanding through hands-on experience with Australian farmers who live these principles daily. Through WWOOFing, I hope to gather practical knowledge about sustainable agriculture and conservation techniques that I can implement back home. From soil regeneration to water conservation, composting to permaculture design—I’m excited to learn systems that work harmoniously with nature rather than against it. Beyond the technical skills, I’m most looking forward to the human connection. As an avid traveler, I’ve discovered that the most enriching aspects of any journey come from meaningful exchanges with locals and immersion in different cultures. WWOOF offers the perfect opportunity to experience authentic Australian farm life while contributing my problem-solving abilities and scientific background to your projects. Ultimately, I see WWOOFing as more than just an adventure—it’s a chance to be part of a global movement toward sustainability, to exchange knowledge across cultures, and to do my part in creating positive change in our world. I’m excited to bring my adaptable nature, technical skills, and genuine enthusiasm to your farm, hoping to leave it a little better than I found it while carrying your wisdom forward in my own journey.

I would love to take part in a volunteer project because I truly enjoy helping others, being in contact with nature, and learning through hands-on experiences. I believe volunteering is a great way to connect with people from different backgrounds while contributing to a meaningful cause. At the same time, I’m currently looking to complete the 88 days to extend my visa in Australia, and I see volunteering as a valuable opportunity to do so in a positive and purposeful way. I’m committed, hardworking, and genuinely motivated to contribute wherever I can be useful.

We have 20 acres of land on which we run sheep, cattle and poultry. We grow vegetables and garlic for use by family members and sell any surplus to the public. We run our property using organic regenerative principles. We sell produce at local markets when we can and our long term plan is to establish a Farm Shop on site. We are also in the process of launching a pastured egg enterprise. We currently incubate and raise chickens for this purpose. Much of our daily tasks will involve feeding young chickens, collecting eggs and moving mobile pens around the farm. We have a small flock of ewes and a ram so other activities will involve caring for the newborn lambs when necessary.

One of the reasons I came to Australia was to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. I’ve always been fascinated by animals and rural life, so WWOOF feels like the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience, meet kind people, and connect more deeply with the natural environment. I hope to learn useful skills while helping out and sharing daily life with my host.

Our dream was to live on a farm in the countryside. I'm planning to experience farm life for 2-3 months and then rent a small farm to live on the farm. In particular, I want to provide children in their adolescence with a life of living with nature, away from relying on mobile phones. The children also try to adjust to farm life by helping work on the farm before entering school in the winter semester. I like to do things with my hands because camping has been my hobby for a long time.

Woofing is a great way for me to connect my background in Environmental Engineering Science with real-world experience. During my studies, I explored various areas such as sustainable water management and systems, product life cycles, ecological challenges, and nutrient cycles, including topics like nitrogen cycles and soil health. These subjects have given me an understanding of how natural systems work, how human activities impact the environment, and how tricky it can be to find best practice solutions. While I’ve learned a lot about these topics from a scientific standpoint, I believe it’s equally important to see how they are applied in practice. I believe working on a farm will give me a better understanding of these real-world challenges and how theory and practice can be better aligned. I have already tried woofing for 3 weeks on an organic farm in Alsace, France, and really enjoyed working with the land and learning from passionate people. Now I’m excited to keep learning, help out, and experience Australia.

I'm looking to escape the corporate grind and take 4-6 months out of my career to reconnect with nature, a slower pace of life and the people who embrace and celebrate these things.   Whilst I have the funds to travel, I find the lack of structure on a holiday a little challenging so I thought WWOOFing would give me a fabulous opportunity to take in gorgeous scenery whilst still feeling useful and having a reason to get out of bed. It would give me the chance to reconnect with where I'd like my life to go and potentially make big changes when I returned to my (mostly renovated) home in Ballarat.   I'm hoping to spend 2-3 weeks, maybe 4, with each host and get to know the local area rather than rushing around and spending a few days with each.

I joined WWOOF because I’m passionate about learning directly from people who live closely with nature. I believe that hands-on experience and connection with the land are some of the most valuable ways to grow — not just in skills, but as a person. Through WWOOF, I’m hoping to exchange energy, knowledge, and care, while contributing meaningfully to the places that welcome me. I’m excited to meet inspiring hosts, learn new ways of sustainable living, and be part of beautiful, hard-working communities along the way.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
