Short Property Description

Hello!

We are located in the beautiful country village of nymboida, known for its white water canoeing on the nymboida river, on 240 acres of cleared land, bush and creeks. We are mostly self sufficient , with horses, beef and dairy cows, sheep, rabbits, chooks and ducks and four dogs as well as an organic market garden where we attend weekly farmers markets to sell our produce.

Rachael also has a passion for horses, particularly Australia’s wild horse (brumby). She hosts brumby training camps and often has young horses in training as well as teaching riding lessons to her local community.

Mitch has a beautiful nursery where he grows natives for bush regeneration projects as well as seedlings for our market garden.

In 2019 and 2023 our property was burnt in bush fires where we lost fencing, and land damaging fire breaks cut into our pasture and bush. We are working on regenerating the land and re establishing fencing to recover from this and build resilience for the future.
In 2022 and 2025 we were affected by floods which caused landslips and roads to wash away, so similarly are recovering from this.

Organic/Biological methods we use

Our garden is spray free and we focus on soil health (and a bit of love and magic) to grow healthy and abundant produce.

Mitch has extensive knowledge on mineral inputs for plant health and vitality and we use methods such as companion planting and cover cropping to build resilience.

We’re are currently playing with no-till methods and are always learning and researching better ways to farm for the health of our land and the planet.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

Being hosts enables us to meet new like minded people who are travelling and want to experience rural Australia. We love to get to know you while working together on the land and share our knowledge on all things hobby farming on our beautiful slice of paradise.

We both have been wwoofers in our early 20s and learned a lot of our own skills from these experiences, so we love to share that with others !

Being in a bush fire and flood affected area, having some extra help around the farm on recovery projects means a lot to us, as well as the companionship along the way makes tasks fun and more manageable.
